Twitter/@mattschneidman Aaron Rodgers is going all-in on his Nicolas Cage obsession -- the superstar quarterback now has a bust of the actor's head in his locker ... and he showed it off to reporters on Tuesday. 38-year-old Rodgers was all smiles as he brought the Cage head down from the top shelf of his changing space to give a closer look ... chatting it up as folks in the crowd got their jokes off. ‘Better Call Saul’ Series Finale Recap: Slippin’ Jimmy Vs. Saul Goodman
Better Call Saul has ended. A review of the series finale, “Saul Gone,” coming up just as soon as I build a time machine… “Where do I see it ending? With me on top, like always.” —Saul James Morgan McGill and Walter White join forces one final time midway through “Saul Gone.” It is a flashback to the two of them hiding out in the vacuum store’s basement circa the “Granite State” episode of Breaking Bad , each of them waiting for Ed to secret them away to their new lives under assumed identities. Their conversation is a reminder of Walt’s arrogance, as well as his contempt for Saul: When Saul suggests he could have sued Gray Matter on Walt’s behalf, Walt dismisses him as the last attorney he ever would have employed for such a task. He would laugh in disbelief if you were to tell him that the man he knows as Saul Goodman once kicked off a successful multimillion-dollar class action suit against another corporation on behalf of defenseless senior citizens. Mostly, … [Read more...] about ‘Better Call Saul’ Series Finale Recap: Slippin’ Jimmy Vs. Saul Goodman
Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp Join Forces for the at Times Pro Forma, at Times Genuinely Ugly Rock Album ’18’
As one of the most influential and innovative electric guitarists in rock history, Jeff Beck has recorded and toured with enough musical luminaries over the past six decades to fill the guest lists at multiple Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. So it’s totally fitting that his first full-length release in six years should be a collaboration with … Johnny Depp ? The legendary six-string genius and the actor got along when Beck guested on Rise , the 2019 album from Hollywood Vampires (a long-running supergroup co-founded by Depp with Alice Cooper and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry), that Depp and Beck decided to make an entire album together in 2020 as a pandemic time-killer. But Depp’s decision to release a record like this now, just weeks after the verdict in the defamation case involving his ex-wife Amber Heard, is bizarre, and in some ways offensive, especially as the album leans into a kind of macho rock cliché that has long been freighted with notions of … [Read more...] about Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp Join Forces for the at Times Pro Forma, at Times Genuinely Ugly Rock Album ’18’
Netflix Top 10: ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ Continues Extraordinary Run; ‘The Sandman’, ‘Never Have I Ever’, ‘Locke & Key’ Top English Chart
Extraordinary Attorney Woo did not take the world by storm the way Squid Game did last year. The latest hit from Korea instead took the scenic route toward success by gradually building its popularity via word of mouth. Extraordinary Attorney Woo — a legal take on The Good Doctor (which also originated in Korea) with a female lead — has been growing every week, from 24M hours viewed in Week 1 to a new high mark of 67M hours viewed in its sixth week (8/8-8/14). This may be the first Netflix series to increase viewing in each of its first six weeks. The Korean drama remained at #1 in Netflix’s Weekly Top 10 for non-English series, a position it has held for five of its six weeks to date, only briefly slipping to #2 in Week 3. On the English-language side, The Sandman followed the growth trajectory Netflix would like to see for a new series, with its Week 2 hours viewed (127.5M) almost doubling the Week 1 tally as more subscribers discover the Neil Gaiman … [Read more...] about Netflix Top 10: ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ Continues Extraordinary Run; ‘The Sandman’, ‘Never Have I Ever’, ‘Locke & Key’ Top English Chart
Polio Is Making a Comeback. Thanks, Anti-Vaxxers!
Earlier this month, poliovirus was discovered in wastewater in counties outside New York City late last month, signaling the first domestic outbreak since the 1970s of that potentially deadly and crippling virus. Covid . Monkey Pox. Now polio . If it seems like infectious diseases are coming at us faster, spreading more widely and persisting longer than they have in generations—well, it’s because they are, health experts say, largely because one thing that we can do to reliably prevent an outbreak of infectious disease—get vaccinated—is the one thing millions of people in the United States and across the developed world are failing to do. For the first time since the early 1990s, life-expectancy is actually dropping for many groups in the U.S. A fifth of Americans have refused the Covid vaccines for themselves or their children, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And just 65 percent of residents of some counties outside New York … [Read more...] about Polio Is Making a Comeback. Thanks, Anti-Vaxxers!
The Most Memorable Moments From ‘Better Call Saul’
Better Call Saul ended last night with a wonderful episode that brought the entire Breaking Bad universe to a satisfying conclusion. We recapped the finale and spoke with Saul co-creator Peter Gould , but we’re not ready to say goodbye to the classic AMC drama just yet. So here are 10 moments from across the series’ run that remind us why a spinoff no one — including Gould and co-creator Vince Gilligan — seemed to think was a good idea at the start turned out to be as beloved in its own way as the adventures of Walt and Jesse. “I broke my boy!” (From Season One, Episode Six: “Five-O”) Saul Season One is filled with a lot of trial and error. It’s always watchable because of the sheer craft level of Gould, Gilligan, and company, but with more of a meandering air to it than the deliberate-but-focused quality that would typify later seasons (and Breaking Bad , for that matter), as the creative team gradually realized that they liked Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill and … [Read more...] about The Most Memorable Moments From ‘Better Call Saul’
