Calvin Harris has linked up with 21 Savage for a new song, “New Money,” set to appear on Harris’ upcoming album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 , out Aug. 5. “New Money” is exactly what you’d expect from a Funk Wav Bounces track, with Harris crafting yet another effortless grove packed with bright piano, supple bass lines, and sunset-streaked synths (there’s even a wah-wah guitar solo thrown in for good measure). It’s a pristine production pallet for 21 Savage, who peels of couplets like, “Gucci garments, kush smell like armpits/You domеstic, all I ride is foreign shit.” “New Money” is the second offering from Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 , following “Potion,” which featured Dua Lipa and Young Thug. While a full track list hasn’t been revealed yet, Harris did tease the album’s numerous collaborators , including Normani, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Halsey, Pusha T, Chlöe, Pharrell, Busta Rhymes, Offset, Swae Lee, Tinashe, Lil Durk, and more. Hear Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s ‘Timberline’ From Lost Album ‘Toast’
A week before Neil Young and Crazy Horse officially unearth their lost 2001 LP Toast , the band have shared the unreleased “Timberline” from the long-shelved album. In a post announcing Toast in May, Young declared that the album’s songs were “so sad at the time that I couldn’t put it out.” He added of “Timberline,” a track about a lumberjack in the midst of a religious crisis, “The scene changes to a religious guy who just lost his job. He’s turning on Jesus. He can’t cut any more trees. He’s a logger.” “Timberline” is one of three unreleased songs — including the previously shared “ Standing in the Light of Love ” — to feature on the seven-track Toast , out July 8. The album was recorded at Toast Studios in San Francisco in early 2001 but ultimately shelved until Young decided to finally release it two decades later. “It’s a mind blowing record, and I don’t think it’s a commercial record, but it’s great rock and roll, very moody, kind of jazzy,” Young told … [Read more...] about Hear Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s ‘Timberline’ From Lost Album ‘Toast’
Neil Young: “There’ll Never Be Another Crazy Horse”
This past October Neil Young sat down with Rolling Stone to discuss his Linc Volt Project and his future music plans, including his new Crazy Horse album Toast , his world tour and his endlessly delayed box set. Since our conversation we’ve learned that the planned January 27th release date is a “non-starter for certain” and it will be out “perhaps March or April.” We’ll believe it when we see it, but here is the music portion of the Q&A. On this tour you’ve played a few songs like “Time Fades Away” that you haven’t touched in decades. What drew you back to that material? What’s the status of your next album, Toast? Toast is done. It’s amazing listening experience. It was recorded in 5.1. It’s a mind blowing record, and I don’t think it’s a commercial record, but it’s great rock and roll, very moody, kind of jazzy. It was recorded in the same place where Coltrane was recorded, so there’s a lot of heavy stuff in there. All of the live ambiance for … [Read more...] about Neil Young: “There’ll Never Be Another Crazy Horse”

Rashtra Kavach: OM Movie Review: Aditya Roy Kapur-Sanjana Sanghi’s Actioner Turns Out To Be A Decoy
Rating: 1.5 /5 Star Cast: Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjana Sanghi, Jackie Shroff, Prachee Shah Paandya, Prakash Raj Director: Kapil Verma The bullets in Rashtra Kavach: OM are as redundant as the film's plot. One of them pierces the hero's brain but voila, he is only down with amnesia. Another one hits a character on her shoulder and she is found to be perfectly standing besides the hero in the next frame. No wonder, the villain instructs his boys to hit the main protagonist with guns rather than using them to shoot him! "I am not sure about death Sir, but I am death sure about Om," Jai Rathore (Ashutosh Rana) tells his senior in one of the scenes in the film. Well, we agree with him after a full-blown assault on our senses for around two hours and fifteen minutes. What's Yay: Aditya Roy Kapur's perfectly-chiselled abs, an action scene or two What's Nay: Story, direction Story Rashtra Kavach: OM begins with a covert operation on a … [Read more...] about Rashtra Kavach: OM Movie Review: Aditya Roy Kapur-Sanjana Sanghi’s Actioner Turns Out To Be A Decoy
‘There’s No Crying in Baseball!’: ‘A League of Their Own’ Turns 30
When A League of Their Own hit theaters on July 1, 1992, it was up against a crowded slate of blockbusters, including Batman Returns , Lethal Weapon 3 , Patriot Games , and Universal Soldier , that were expected to linger around multiplexes all summer. But when Labor Day rolled around two months later, all those other movies had faded away, and A League of Their Own was still packing in crowds on its way toward a $107.5 million domestic gross. Love for the Penny Marshall-directed film about the World War II-era All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, staring Geena Davis , Lori Petty, Tom Hanks , Madonna , and Rosie O’Donnell, has only grown in the three decades that followed thanks to VHS rentals, DVD sales, and endless replays on cable television. It’s a rare movie that appeals to people across all age groups and demographics, and it revived interest in the half-forgotten AAGPBL. In honor of A League of Their Own ‘s 30th anniversary, we spoke with … [Read more...] about ‘There’s No Crying in Baseball!’: ‘A League of Their Own’ Turns 30
Mourning Loss Of Paint-And-Paper Anime, ‘Mirai’ Director Attempts Animated First With Four-Year-Old Protagonist
In a robust year for international animation—with a record eight Japanese films on the Oscars shortlist—Mamoru Hosoda brought a most personal project to Cannes, trying for a historic first. The first Japanese anime to premiere at the prestigious French festival—and the Directors’ Fortnight’s sole animated entry this year— Mirai was ambitious, taking as its protagonist a four-year-old boy. Undoubtedly, small children have featured into many an animated film over the years. It’s the way children are handled, though, that sets Mirai apart, in its approach and the level of complexity at hand. As a point of comparison, Hosoda references The Boss Baby , a 2017 film starring Alec Baldwin as a briefcase-carrying tot in professional dress. “Boss Baby is a character. He’s not really a baby, because it’s an old man [playing] the baby,” the director reflects. “I really wanted a realistic four-year-old as the main character, and we really had a challenging time because it’s about the way … [Read more...] about Mourning Loss Of Paint-And-Paper Anime, ‘Mirai’ Director Attempts Animated First With Four-Year-Old Protagonist

The Art Of Craft: ‘Isle Of Dogs’ Production Designer Bends Form Of Stop-Motion To Realize Vision Of An Auteur
In his first collaboration with Wes Anderson on Isle of Dogs , Paul Harrod translated an auteur’s live-action style to stop-motion, a medium that allowed for a spectacular visual presentation, but came with a set of limitations that proved problematic. Gathering reference materials and establishing certain visual parameters early on was Adam Stockhausen , an Oscar-winning production designer who has been the auteur’s go-to craftsman since Moonrise Kingdom , and had to leave the production early on, heading into the VR world of Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One . Picking up the baton, co-production designer Harrod brought 30 years of stop-motion experience to Anderson’s set, realizing early on that this production would challenge him like no other. Set in a specific vision of Japan—caught between past, present and future— the film would follow Atari, a young boy who goes on an odyssey in search of his lost dog. “Wes likes everything to be in focus, and of course, when … [Read more...] about The Art Of Craft: ‘Isle Of Dogs’ Production Designer Bends Form Of Stop-Motion To Realize Vision Of An Auteur
