Director Christopher McQuarrie's upcoming action sequel, Mission: Impossible 7 , is bringing back a character not seen since the very first movie in the franchise, sleazy IMF director Eugene Kittridge. Last seen way, way back in 1996's Mission: Impossible , the character will be back for the upcoming seventh installment, with McQuarrie now giving us our first look at his return. Seen sat on a train basked in sunlight, and no doubt plotting something, Henry Czerny will once again reprise the role of Eugene Kittridge. While his role in the movie remains a mystery, director Christopher McQuarrie has previously teased that both this sequel and Mission: Impossible 8 will be the final parts of Ethan Hunt's story, taking the hero back to the beginning, and providing a much more emotional journey for the seemingly indestructible action hero. EXCLUSIVE: Ty Simpkins , who is known for his role in the Insidious franchise, has boarded Darren Aronofsky ’s forthcoming film The Whale at A24 . He joins previously announced cast members Brendan Fraser and Hong Chau, who will serve as the leads of the film. The Whale tells the story of a reclusive English teacher suffering from severe obesity who attempts to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption. Simpkins will step into the role of “Thomas” but no further details have been revealed about his character. A24 declined to comment about the casting. As Deadline previously reported , sources say Samantha Morton and Sadie Sink are also in negotiations to join the cast. Cinema fans were hoping 2021 would be the year that many much-delayed movies would finally be able to release in theaters. While it seems another spate of delays are on the horizon, horror fans are hoping the upcoming Halloween Kills will be able to keep to its October release schedule.
