Chris McCarthy has been speaking about a franchise strategy for Showtime since he took over the network a couple of months ago. That strategy will include expanding successful series with multiple spinoffs in the mold of the Yellowstone universe as the premium cable network starts its integration with Paramount+ and getting a new moniker , Paramount+ with Showtime. Deadline has been hearing for awhile about potential Billions offshoots from series co-creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien. Showtime would not confirm the plan but McCarthy did it in an interview with WSJ , revealing that the four projects in the works are spinoffs set in Miami, the self-proclaimed crypto capital, and London, the world’s financial hub, as well as offshoots Millions , about up-and-coming financiers, and Trillions, a soap about the ultra rich. ‘The Last Of Us’ Viewership Hits Another Series High With Episode 4 on HBO
The Last of Us delivered another series high on Sunday with 7.5M people tuning in across HBO and HBO Max. That’s a 17% increase from Episode 3’s audience of 6.4M, despite Sunday’s episode going head-to-head with the 65th annual Grammy Awards . This is the second week in a row that The Last of Us has had some big competition, after airing on HBO during the last half of the AFC Championship on the East Coast last week. The series has now grown its same-day audience every week since it debuted in January. Sunday night’s viewership was up 60% from the premiere episode’s same-day number. With the Super Bowl approaching this Sunday, The Last of Us fans are in luck, as the next episode drops on HBO Max in just a few days . Lady Gaga’s Bowie Tribute Rocks Grammys Amid Cancellations & Tech Issues
It was a weird night for the 2016 Grammy Awards , marked by a series of setbacks that, while not derailing the telecast, certainly kept people talking as much about the glitches as the musical performances. But the evening’s signature moment went off without a hitch as Lady Gaga delivered a tribute to rock legend David Bowie a month and a half after he lost his battle with cancer at 69 . There were politics and attempts to playoffs winners early in this year’s Grammy Awards but the first big bleep and F-bomb came almost two-hours in to the CBS broadcast tonight – and it came from the multi-nominated Adele . “I’m sorry for swearing and sorry for starting again, can we please start it again,” said the 25 singer after she let the four-letter word rip during the beginning of a tribute to George Michael. “I’m sorry, I can’t mess this up for you. The NFL tight end got the scalp ink on Saturday while the Pro Bowl games were going down at Allegiant Stadium ... and TMZ Sports has learned he flew out his go-to guy, Kali from Atlanta , to make sure it was all done right.
