Jennifer Lopez has signed up to star in director Lorene Scafaria’s “Hustlers.”The film is inspired by the Jessica Pressler article in New York Magazine titled, “The Hustlers at Scores,” which details a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients.Lopez will play ringleader to the group of ambitious women who take their plans of getting their full cut too far. Scafaria’s script takes place in the late aughts in New York City in the wake of the financial crisis and explores the toll it took on the livelihood of the dancers who relied on their Wall Street clientele. Women in Film Chief Calls Herself Out on Hiring Women: “We Have So Much Work to Do”
Oscar-winning producer Cathy Schulman easily offers up that she’s enjoying an “amazing” year with two movies shooting back-to-back. First, a teen tearjerker titled Five Feet Apart starring Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson and a motherhood comedy titled Otherhood starring Oscar winner Patricia Arquette and Oscar nominees Felicity Huffman and Angela Bassett. The latter, directed by Sex and the City executive producer Cindy Chupack, making her feature directorial debut, has been a labor of love that Schulman and Chupack had been shepherding for eight years before it landed at Netflix. ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ Actress Says It’s Time For Storm Solo Film
X-Men: Dark Phoenix, says it is time for her character to get her own film. Alexandra Shipp is having a great year and her career is really heating up. After successfully taking over the role of Storm from the iconic Halle Berry, the actress has locked herself into another hit franchise as the female lead for the Shaft reboot. She will be honored for her performance in Love, Simon at the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy awards with the Max Mara Face of the Future Award.
