Mariah Carey Remixes Her Black Irish Liqueur As a Summer Splash
If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission. Mariah Carey is no stranger to remixing a hit and this time, she’s shaking it up behind the bar. Weeks after her remix of Latto’s “Big Energy” (ft. DJ Khaled) helped propel the song up the charts, Carey is scoring a hit with — *in DJ Khaled voice* — another one , thanks to a new summer promo for her Black Irish liqueur. Originally launched last fall as a festive drink for the holidays , the superstar singer is re-introducing Black Irish as a surprisingly refreshing summer drink, with the “Black Irish & Berries Brunch Sipper,” a “chocolatey, berry indulgence” designed for the warm days ahead. AMIR SHAFII Buy: Mariah Carey Black Irish White Chocolate at $24.99 The cocktail combines Carey’s Black Irish White Chocolate (an Irish cream liqueur) with a tablespoon of maple syrup, shredded coconut, 1/4 cup mixed … [Read more...] about Mariah Carey Remixes Her Black Irish Liqueur As a Summer Splash
Chhavi Mittal Opens Up About Her Cancer Surgery: I Didn’t Want My Daughter To See Me In Pain
Chhavi Mittal recently opened up about her battle with cancer in an interview with ETimes TV. The actress shared details about her surgery and how she broke the news to her 3-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter about her diagnosis. Chhavi shared, “There was no suspicion, no inkling. It was just a chest injury at the gym that led me to certain tests that discovered the lump. Thankfully, I had a set of mindful doctors around me. As for my surgery, it is done. In fact, multiple surgeries were done. The cancer was removed from the body. Now radiation therapy will begin; it will extend for 20 sessions. I have dodged chemotherapy and I am lucky.” On being quizzed about what she told her son, the actress said, “He is too small, he is just 3. I told him that I have hurt my right side and he should be careful when he hugs me. He keeps asking me which is the left side before hugging now. He asked me to show him the scars and I did. He keeps asking me how I got … [Read more...] about Chhavi Mittal Opens Up About Her Cancer Surgery: I Didn’t Want My Daughter To See Me In Pain
Cannes Film Festival Has Had Its Musical Moments From The Stones To The Spice Girls
In 1971, the Cannes Film Festival opened with a screening of Gimme Shelter by Albert and David Maysles, an immersive, vérité depiction of two weeks in the touring life of the Rolling Stones . If that was all it did, it might have been forgotten by now. But by a terrible freak of chance, the filmmakers followed the band to the most notorious concert of their entire career — the Altamont Speedway Free Festival in Livermore, CA, where the Stones, along with Santana, Jefferson Airplane, The Flying Burrito Brothers and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, were set to perform a free concert for 300,000 people on Dec. 6, 1969. “We didn’t know what it was going to be,” Albert said later. “We just had a childish faith that having seen the Stones and getting along with them, there might be a feature film there.” At the apparent suggestion of Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead (who were originally set to perform at the festival but ended up steering clear due to serious … [Read more...] about Cannes Film Festival Has Had Its Musical Moments From The Stones To The Spice Girls
Jerrod Carmichael Came Out in ‘Rothaniel.’ Now He’s Figuring Out How to Live That Way
Moving through the lobby of a posh Santa Monica hotel one May afternoon, Jerrod Carmichael is not so much walking as strutting. Tall and slender, he’s wearing a black cashmere sweater, matching pants, loafers, an Afro pick, and an outsize smile. And then there’s the brooch: Stunning gold. Cursive font. The letter R. “I love it so much,” Carmichael says, gazing down to admire the pin. It was a gift from a friend a few weeks ago, for Carmichael’s 35th birthday. Ever since, he’s been “building outfits around it.” The R is a beautiful piece of jewelry, to be sure. But it’s much more than a sartorial statement piece. It represents a rebirth for the comedian. R is the first letter of his real first name, Rothaniel (Jerrod is his middle name), which he revealed in his most recent comedy special, along with a host of family secrets, including his own: that he is gay. “I don’t feel like a liar anymore,” Carmichael says as we take one of his favorite strolls down Wilshire Boulevard, … [Read more...] about Jerrod Carmichael Came Out in ‘Rothaniel.’ Now He’s Figuring Out How to Live That Way
Viacom Names Bob Bakish Permanent CEO As He Tries To Chart A Future Without CBS
Viacom ’s Bob Bakish has one of the toughest jobs in media today as the company board officially took the word “acting” off the CEO title he picked up last month when he became the third person to have the gig in the past four months. The decision follows Sumner and Shari Redstone ’s announcement this morning that they want to scuttle the plan they’d proposed to merge Viacom with CBS — likely putting its CEO Les Moonves in charge of a combined company. Viacom says that it has “discontinued the exploration of a potential combination with CBS.” “While there is much work to do, I firmly believe that Viacom has a bright future, and that confidence is underpinned by senior management’s commitment to innovation and a more coordinated, global approach to managing our brands,” Shari Redstone says following Bakish’s title change. Board Chairman Tom May says the CEO “has impressed the Board of Directors with the decisive steps he has taken. He has moved quickly to deliver upon the … [Read more...] about Viacom Names Bob Bakish Permanent CEO As He Tries To Chart A Future Without CBS
Olympics Closing Ceremony Review: Johnny Weir Chills Out At K-Pop Pageant
The well-wired Asian nation’s culture and technology was heavily on patriotic display tonight in NBC ’s coverage of the Closing Ceremony of the XXIII Winter Games. However, it was the music of South Korea that really owned the beat and heart of the tape-delayed event and almost turned the Olympics into the best Grammys show you’ve probably never seen…even as politics crept in. “This is for all my bad girls around the world,” declared singer CL as the Closing Ceremony got a whole new kind of bounce with her single “The Baddest Female” and some K-Pop gold medal moves. “Let’s light it up and burn like we don’t care,” the 2NE1 alum and gold medalist Chloe Kim favorite proclaimed as the packed Olympic Stadium of 35,000 got on its feet fast. Offering a “reason to smile” and “hope in humanity” out of the Olympics, primetime host Mike Tirico eventually summed up the XXIII Winter Games tonight in pedantic geopolitical terms but that all took a backseat to pop … [Read more...] about Olympics Closing Ceremony Review: Johnny Weir Chills Out At K-Pop Pageant
