Wendy Williams has scored a partial victory in trying to gain access to her bank accounts, but the former daytime talk queen still isn’t able to sign her own checks – and that’s not cool with her. “Please be advised that Wendy is not in agreement with the appointment of a financial guardian by the court,” Williams lawyer LaShawn Thomas said today of a New York Supreme Court judge deciding on May 19 to put a as yet unnamed guardian in charge of her cash until at least July. “Wendy has been very clear that she does not want a financial guardian to tell her what she can and cannot do with her money,” the Miami-based attorney added. Off the air due to Graves disease and other health issues, Williams has been in battle for most of this year with Wells Fargo over being denied entry her likely not insignificant accounts. In a vide posted online back in March where she accused her ex-manager Bernie Young of taking $100,000 out of her accounts to get a guardianship put in … [Read more...] about Wendy Williams “Not In Agreement” With Court Appointed Financial Guardian; Wells Fargo Behind Leaks, Lawyer Says

A few years ago, as filmmaker Roger Ross Williams contemplated founding his own production company, he experienced a Field of Dreams kind of vision: “If you build it, they will come.” The revelation took place far from the Iowa cornfields of the movie. “I was actually walking by this big, empty office space in Brooklyn,” Williams recalled, “and I thought, ‘Wow, that’s a great office space. I should rent it to start my company.’ I thought that renting the office space would force me to fill it.” Fill it he did, first with edit bays, then with staff. One Story Up has become a thriving enterprise and one of the industry’s few African American-owned production companies. The company name doesn’t refer to a physical location, but to an idea. “I loved the word ‘story’ being in the name and lifting ‘up’. The two things: lifting up filmmakers of color and telling stories,” Williams says. “I said to myself, I need to use the production company as a vehicle for helping … [Read more...] about Roger Ross William’s One Story Up Is A Powerhouse Production Company Giving Hope To BIPOC Talent — Deadline Disruptors
Jesse Williams has spoken out regarding the leak of a nude scene from his Broadway revival of Take Me Out , saying that he’s “not down” about it. “Our job is to go out there every night, no matter what…I’m not really worrying about it. I can’t sweat that,” Williams told The Associated Press on Thursday at their event, Tony Awards: Meet The Nominees . The actor added that actors “do need to keep advocating” for themselves, and that it’s been “wonderful” to see his community “push back” and be clear about the kinds of behavior it won’t stand for. “Consent is important, I thought,” he said. “So, let’s keep that in mind universally.” Williams added that while “theater is a sacred space,” not everyone understands that. “Everybody doesn’t necessarily respect or regard that in a way that maybe they should, or we’d like,” he continued. In the play by Richard Greenberg, Williams plays Darren Lemming, a pro baseball player who struggles after coming out as gay. His … [Read more...] about Jesse Williams Talks ‘Take Me Out’ Nude Leak: “Theater Is A Sacred Space”
Like a Las Vegas boxing match, CBS only had The Good Fight on for one night, but turns out The Good Wife spinoff doesn’t quite pack much of a punch – at least among adults 18-49. Premiering at 8 PM on Sunday with a special preview and starting with dismay at the inauguration of Donald Trump, the Christine Baranski-led legal drama snagged a soft 0.7/2 in the key demo. After last night, TGF will now only be seen on CBS All Access – which showed the second episode on Sunday too. While comparisons are a bit stretched, last night’s TGF debut was down 46% from the series finale of TGW ’s seven-season run on May 8 last year at 9 PM. It is also down 63% in the 18-49s from the September 22, 2014 launch of Madam Secretary in that 9 PM slot. To add one more stat, TGF dropped 30% from lead-in 60 Minutes (1.0/4) – which itself was down 20% from its pre-Grammy Awards position of last week. With a total viewership of 7.16 million, The Good Fight was the … [Read more...] about ‘The Good Fight’ Ratings Debut Soft For Solo Night On CBS, ‘Son Of Zorn’ Up
Nakuul Mehta, who is currently seen playing the lead role in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2 , recently opened up about how social media has changed lives drastically. In an interview with Pinkvilla, the actor opened up about how kids today are engrossed in their mobile phones and do not play much. On being quizzed about how he plans on protecting his son Sufi from social media, Nakuul said, “I don’t have an absolute answer because it would be dishonest to say that now because it will be different when he is going to be 5 or 6. He is a year old now. But both me and Jankee do not encourage any digital screen time at home so we have not switched on our TVs for the last 2 years.” He went on to add, “Also because one, we wanted to cut it off from our lives. Secondly, when Sufi was born we did not want him to be exposed to this. He has only seen the phone when there is a video call and a family or a friend wants to say hi to him. But no TV, no cartoon. He listens … [Read more...] about Nakuul Mehta Says He Hasn’t Switched On TV For The Last 2 Years After His Son Was Born For THIS Reason
