Gallery Launch Gallery Backgrid Jamie Foxx is living it up in the South of France ... making out with a super hot blonde on a yacht and tooling around on a jet ski!!! It's good to be the Foxx. Jamie is at Cannes for the Film Festival, but it ain't all work -- he's onboard a luxury yacht with a stunning woman, and his lips are very fond of her. They were all over each other, engaging in some heavy-duty PDA on deck, and on a daybed. Backgrid It looks like Jamie and his special friend are getting along swimmingly ... he had her laughing and then they slipped on some lifejackets and shared a Sea-Doo, with JF at the controls and the woman holding on for dear life. Backgrid The last time we saw Jamie on jet skiing, he was cruising around Biscayne Bay with his then-girlfriend Katie Holmes ... but as we've seen, the exes have since moved on quite happily. Vive la France!!! … [Read more...] about Jamie Foxx Makes Out with Hot Blonde on Yacht

NFT Art Is Terrible, but That’s OK Because There’s No Such Thing as NFT Art
Opinions expressed are solely those of the author and do not reflect the views of Rolling Stone editors or publishers. It was inevitable. With the emergence of any new technology, innovation or major platform, comes the excitement, the rush to understand and profit. What soon follows are the scams, frauds and loss through ignorance and then righteous indignation. There’s a lot of naysaying and prognosticating. Then, usually, as the new thing or way becomes clearer — its value apparent — the utility and durable nature (if it has them) become clear too. In February 2021, Mike Winkelmann (aka Beeple) sold his eponymous “Everydays: the First 5,000 Days” NFT at auction for $69 million . At that moment, the cultural lens pivoted and suddenly everybody was hearing the acronym NFT. The art was what was visible at that moment, both by Beeple and others, and a quick succession of seven-digit auctions quickly earned the full attention of the art market. Cue a rush of art, some of it … [Read more...] about NFT Art Is Terrible, but That’s OK Because There’s No Such Thing as NFT Art
David Cronenberg’s ‘Crimes Of The Future’ Nabs Six-Minute Standing Ovation At Cannes World Premiere
There’s a lot of weird fetishes in this world, which we won’t go into, but for David Cronenberg ’s Crimes of the Future , surgery is the new sex. The dystopian-future hipster pic starring Viggo Mortensen and Léa Seydoux as a performance art couple obsessed with being operated on, and the former getting his organs tattooed to club-crowd spectacle, scored a six-minute standing ovation after the credits rolled here at its Cannes Film Festival premiere. Kristen Stewart plays a worker in an organ organization (yes) who is bedazzled by Viggo’s Saul Tenser and crushes on him, yearning to be the new muse in his life and taking over for Seydoux’s Caprice. See, it’s Caprice who gets to suck Saul’s open wounds, and she’s the chief architect of his innards (the loose argument is that all this anarchistic surgery enables him to survive). It’s a slow burn with guts, lots of guts, which kicks off with a little boy eating a plastic bathroom pail, followed by his mother suffocating him … [Read more...] about David Cronenberg’s ‘Crimes Of The Future’ Nabs Six-Minute Standing Ovation At Cannes World Premiere

Cannes Review: Saim Sadiq’s ‘Joyland’
A married man falls for a trans woman in Joyland , the first Pakistani feature to play in Cannes. Saim Sadiq ’s atmospheric Un Certain Regard drama also explores a whole family, presenting a picture of a clan torn between modernity and tradition in contemporary Lahore. Haider (Ali Junejo) has a seemingly happy arranged marriage with Mumtaz (Rasti Farooq). But when he gains work as a backing dancer for the glamorous trans performer Biba (Alina Khan), his eyes are opened to another way of life — and potentially another way of loving. Meanwhile, his wife is frustrated with the expectations of the patriarchal society she lives in, and much less enthusiastic about the prospect of bringing another boy into the family (her sister-in-law has daughters, much to everyone’s disappointment). The Joyland of the title is an amusement park which provides an escape for many of the group, whether dancing with a troupe or screaming out their pain on a fairground ride. Haider … [Read more...] about Cannes Review: Saim Sadiq’s ‘Joyland’
Cannes Review: Lise Akoka & Romane Gueret’s ‘The Worst Ones’
The challenges of street casting are explored in The Worst Ones ( Les Pires ), an Un Certain Regard drama about a film within a film. Directed by Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret , it sees a film crew hit a working class French town, with thought-provoking and sometimes darkly funny results. Ryan is initially reluctant to channel his own feelings, clearly troubled by his separation from his mother among other problems. But both may find filming therapeutic. Chasse Royale . This feature follow up is a fascinating look at the filming experience. Cannes Review: Vicky Krieps & Gaspard Ulliel In ‘More Than Ever’
Director Emily Atef ’s Cannes Un Certain Regard drama More Than Ever is a careful, fastidious, Tradition of Quality film about impending death that’s easy to admire but won’t exactly pack ‘em in. Vicky Krieps impresses yet again, here playing a woman in her early 30s suffering from a likely fatal condition who travels from France to the fjords of Norway to try to come to terms with her unfair lot in life. It’s an entirely respectable and honorable piece about facing your own demise far before your expected time, but still the kind of thing most people would rather not think about. In Europe in particular, the film will be remembered as the last feature to star the popular French actor Gaspard Ulliel , who died in a skiing accident on January 19. He had also played the young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising as well as the title character in the biopic Saint Laurent . The spectre of death sadly hangs over this film even more than it was supposed to. … [Read more...] about Cannes Review: Vicky Krieps & Gaspard Ulliel In ‘More Than Ever’
