TV presenter Sarah Cawood is mum-or-two and an avid Love Island fan. But there's one aspect of the show that has left her fuming. Week one of Love Island is done and we are all hooked – it’s fun, completely addictive and full of girls with incredible figures. I was watching on Friday and just like millions of viewers comparing my own bod with the girls on the show when up pops an advert for breast augmentation – or boob jobs to you and me. The tagline for the ad? “Do it for you”. DO IT FOR YOU???? If ever there was a more BS-laden way to target young women and prey upon their self-esteem! URGH. Words actually fail me. Yes, the show is fantastic and there’s no doubt ITV have nailed it. But I’d like to know who sells the ad space in the breaks. Then I’d like to give them an earful. Love Island’s target audience is teenagers and young adults, predominantly women (it’s clearly a guilty pleasure for a middle-aged me). They … [Read more...] about Love Island bosses should stop cashing in on boob job adverts that target young girls… they’re sick
Which female celebrity should i date
Today is the 20-year anniversary of HBO’s Sex and the City, and I couldn’t help but wonder how the show has changed the way we see women. In all seriousness, I am often astounded by how deeply I have come to love Sex and the City. I did not grow up with it, although as a born and raised New Yorker, its influence was everywhere. I watched the first film in theaters with my mother, years before I would ever watch the actual show itself. Yet, when I finally committed to marathoning the HBO classic, I found myself utterly enthralled by it. Yes, we can talk about how the show, if made today, would have (hopefully) been much better about race and sexuality, but for what it was, it has stood the test of time, and we have in many ways forgotten how impactful it once was. Before I started watching it, I had been bombarded with stereotypical summaries that overemphasized the shallowness and downgraded all the emotional journeys the women went through. When Vivian was … [Read more...] about Celebrating the Complex Women of Sex and the City on Its 20th Anniversary
Though over 100 women signed a letter of support for Tom Brokaw amid sexual misconduct allegations, some of the NBC staffers who signed it "felt forced" to do so.According to Page Six, many of the low-level employees at the network didn't feel as though they had a choice as to whether or not they would sign the show of support, which already touted signatures from the likes of Andrea Mitchell, Rachel Maddow, Maria Shriver and Mika Brzezinski. "We felt forced to sign the letter supporting Brokaw. We had no choice, particularly the lower level staffers," a source told the outlet. "The letter was being handed around the office and the unspoken threat was that if your name was not on it, there would be some repercussion down the road."SEE ALSO: Megyn Kelly speaks out on Tom Brokaw sexual misconduct allegations: 'You don't know what you don't know'"Execs are watching to see who signed and who didn't," the source continued. pic.twitter.com/0b5rKgC8gb — katie k (@katiekelzenberg) April 15, 2018 Last week, a Minnesota high school senior named Katie Kelzenberg posted a video to Twitter, asking Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, to go to prom with her. Now, as I wrote around this time last year, I’m not a fan of prom-posal videos in general, with the very public pressure they put on the (usually female) recipient to accept the invitation. I’m even less of a fan of celebrity promposals and how excited so many adults seem to get over the idea of a child trying to romance an adult. I find the whole trend to be creepy. That being said, I find myself completely charmed by Kelzenberg’s video. Maybe it’s her commitment to cosplay. Maybe it’s her merch collection. I think it’s all of it. @TheRock PROM?! pic.twitter.com/VyHhrpVQYe — katie k (@katiekelzenberg) April 15, 2018 It appears that Johnson took notice of the invitation immediately, tweeting back at her only 11 … [Read more...] about I Still Hate This Celebrity “Promposal” Trend, but at Least Dwayne Johnson Is as Gracious and Delightful as Ever
CELEBRITIES who shared intimate snaps with their loved ones have been targeted in recent years by hackers who leaked the photos online. A number of the horrified stars have lashed out, with some even slamming the snaps shared online, as fake. Read on to find out who has been victimised... What is an iCloud hack and who are the biggest victims? iCloud celeb hacks first gained notoriety in the US on August 31 2014, when a tranche of personal photos belonging to female Hollywood celebs were posted online. In what became known as "the Fappening", the most notable victims included actors Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kaley Cuoco and Kirsten Dunst. The snaps were stolen by web thieves who accessed Apple's iCloud — a storage platform which automatically backs up data on users' devices.
