UPDATES with comment from New York Times: One of Harvey Weinstein ’s attorneys says the media mogul is going to sue The New York Times over its report today of alleged sexual harassment claims against The Weinstein Company co-chairman. In a statement, attorney Charles Harder said that the Times story “is saturated with false and defamatory statements about Harvey Weinstein.” “It relies on mostly hearsay accounts and a faulty report, apparently stolen from an employee personnel file, which has been debunked by 9 different eyewitnesses,” the Harder Mirell & Abrams lawyer added. “We sent the Times the facts and evidence, but they ignored it and rushed to publish. We are preparing the lawsuit now. All proceeds will be donated to women’s organizations.” Nothing has been filed. But a New York Times spokesperson responded to Deadline’s request for comment. “We are confident in the accuracy of our reporting,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “Mr. Weinstein was … [Read more...] about Harvey Weinstein To Sue New York Times Over Sexual Harassment Claims In Article

Christina Perri Yearns for Familiarity on New Single ‘Home’
On her latest single “Home,” Christina Perri is searching for comfort in familiar staples: cigarettes, homemade wine, and flowers on the wall. Written with Amy Wadge and producer Jennifer Decilveo, the track is a love letter to her home state of Pennsylvania with a yearning to break away from New York and Los Angeles and return to her roots. “I wanna go back to the moment in time/ With the windows down/ Driving i-95/ Singing Counting Crows/ Trying to drown out the sounds of my mind,” Perri sings. “I hate everyone at this party/ Cause they’re so in love with themselves/ Nobody here understands me, I wish I was somewhere else.” “Home” marks the third single from the singer’s forthcoming third studio album, A Lighter Shade of Blue , set for release on July 15, via Elektra. The record, which marks her first full-length studio album since 2014’s Head or Heart , will feature the previously shared “Mothers” and “Evergone.” “This album has been a long time coming, and getting to … [Read more...] about Christina Perri Yearns for Familiarity on New Single ‘Home’

When I imagine a stadium full of people coming together for a climate event centered on music, what I imagine is an enormous opportunity to feel a solidarity that has been so missing here. I truly hope … [Read more...] about The Flaming Lips, Sheryl Crow, the Roots Lead New Climate-Themed Festival This Fall

French Montana Ditches the Flashy Features and Sounds More Focused Than Ever on ‘Montega’
French Montana is one of rap’s great connectors. He’s known for crafting exuberant projects showcasing his irrepressible personality alongside a bunch of unlikely guest features. On his introductory 2007 mixtape, The French Revolution Vol. 1, he even has a song whose guest feature is credited to Martin Luther King, Jr. If he does nothing else, French Montana brings people together, even if that social butterfly aspect of his persona sometimes hampers the potency of his major-label releases. His 2013 debut Excuse My French felt fun and wavy in all the right ways. But it was also a bit generic: the singles could have been concocted in a boardroom where the main goal was to check off focus-group boxes just to conjure up a chart-topper. Its motley assembly of muscular club bangers and cameo-laden anthems lacked the grimy amiability so prevalent in the songs from his early mixtape run. And while his last album, They Got Amnesia , was a crowd-pleaser packed with … [Read more...] about French Montana Ditches the Flashy Features and Sounds More Focused Than Ever on ‘Montega’

Harvey Weinstein Hires Patty Glaser For Potential Legal Battle With TWC
It could be a battle of the brothers in the courts very soon as deposed and much-accused Harvey Weinstein has retained attorney Patricia Glaser to represent him in a possible looming action against Bob Weinstein and the Weinstein Company. As more revelations of sexual harassment and even accusations of rape are coming out against Weinstein, Deadline has learned that the Hollywood heavyweight could be taking a legal shiv to the younger brother and TWC for terminating the 65-year old’s employment with the company on October 8. With internal divisions perhaps at play, any forthcoming suit could center on Weinstein’s most recent employment contract, which he inked just a couple of years ago. Additionally, Weinstein still owns 23% of TWC with Bob Weinstein owning the same and the seemingly ever-shrinking board holding the remainder. Whatever the battlefield, no doubt no one will emerge unscathed in the matter if an action is instigated but remember the Glaser … [Read more...] about Harvey Weinstein Hires Patty Glaser For Potential Legal Battle With TWC
