Comedian Teddy Ray 's death this past week shocked the entertainment industry, and we've learned his cause of death was an apparent drowning. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office tells TMZ they responded to a call Friday morning around 10 AM at a private residence in Rancho Mirage, where a maintenance worker reported finding a man floating in the swimming pool. Cops arrived and discovered Teddy dead in the pool. RCSO tells us there were no obvious signs of foul play. It's unclear whose pool the comedian drowned in -- the Coroner says he lived in Gardena, CA -- a good 2 1/2 hours away from the desert. We're told investigators will wait for all results from Teddy's autopsy before determining an official cause of death. Ray was known for appearances on 'Wild 'n Out,' 'How to Be Broke' and 'Pause with Sam Jay' on HBO ... plus his work on MTV's 'Messyness.' He was an all-around funny guy, and had great timing and delivery with his jokes and gags. TR … [Read more...] about Comedian Teddy Ray Died in Apparent Drowning, Found in Pool by Worker

‘Yellowjackets’ Christina Ricci On Why She Roots For The Underdog — Even If It Bites Her
At 15, Christina Ricci appeared in a PG-13 comedy called Now and Then , in which four middle-aged best friends meet up to reflect on their teenage selves. Nearly 30 years later, Showtime ’s Yellowjackets is that film’s hard-R evil twin, in which the fortysomething members of a New Jersey school’s female football team are haunted by memories of a traumatic plane crash that left them stranded when they were kids. It’s hard to pick a single performance from a terrific ensemble, but Ricci’s portrayal of the twisted Misty Quigley, played in flashback by Sammi Hanratty , is a standout in a series that shocks and surprises. DEADLINE: Why did you want to want to do Yellowjackets ? CHRISTINA RICCI : I loved the idea of it — the premise in general. But then I read the pilot script and the only scene I had in the whole episode was such an incredibly well written, succinct, informative, evocative scene. It was about a character type I’ve always been fascinated by — … [Read more...] about ‘Yellowjackets’ Christina Ricci On Why She Roots For The Underdog — Even If It Bites Her
Comedian Jerry Sadowitz Hits Back At Venue And Critics After Edinburgh Fringe Show Cancellation: “My Act Is Being Cheapened”
Scottish comedian Jerry Sadowitz has hit back at his critics with a lengthy response after his Edinburgh Fringe show was cancelled by the famous Pleasance venue amid accusations of racism, homophobia and misogyny. The American-born stand-up, who’s known for his controversial and often shocking antics on stage, was said to have made a racist comment about Prime Minsterial hopeful Rishi Sunak and was also slammed for exposing his genitals during the Friday night routine at the Pleasance at Edinburgh International Conference Centre — the venue where the Edinburgh Television Festival will be held next week. The Pleasance cancelled the following night’s performance after receiving “numerous complaints” and released a statement saying his content “did not align” with its values. It has since released a longer follow up statement outlining its reasoning. Watch Rage Against the Machine Play ‘Fistful of Steel’ for the First Time Since 1997
Rage Against the Machine wrapped up the 2022 leg of their Public Service Announcement reunion tour with a five-night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden that concluded Sunday. At the second-to-last show on Friday night, they broke out “Fistful of Steel” for the first time since 1997. Check out the fan-shot video right here. The song is a deep cut from their 1993 self-titled LP. They played nearly every song from the album at some point on the tour except for “Settle For Nothing,” which they haven’t touched since 1993. The vast majority of the songs in the set throughout the tour came from the band’s three proper studio albums, but they did play Bruce Springsteen’s “The Ghost of Tom Joad” from their covers collection Renegades, “No Shelter” from the Godzilla soundtrack, and Run the Jewels’ “Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck).” The band originally planned on heading to Europe later this month, but they canceled those shows to give frontman Zach de la Rocha more time … [Read more...] about Watch Rage Against the Machine Play ‘Fistful of Steel’ for the First Time Since 1997
Divino Niño Rebel Against the Church on Sparkling Reggaeton-Fused Track ‘XO’
The Chicago-based band Divino Niño filled their 2019 breakthrough album, Foam, with lush, anti-gravity dream pop, so light it seemed able to drift listeners into a blissful new dimension. But on their upcoming album, Last Spa on Eart h , the band is playing with bolder sounds — and their new single, “XO,” is just a hint of the surprises they’ve prepared. The track is one of Divino Niño’s most upbeat without abandoning their skill for lithe, breezy production. “Over that summer [when we made the album], we fell back in love with J Dilla ,” the band tells Rolling Stone. “We were also really into this reggaeton track by L-Gante [that] he did with Bizarrap . In both instances, we got really into the idea of creating a beat that had swing and felt a bit drunk, s o we definitely moved the drums samples a lot to create a less quantized vibe.” The song slides between English and Spanish, something that’s reflective of the writing on Last Spa on Earth. While Foam was … [Read more...] about Divino Niño Rebel Against the Church on Sparkling Reggaeton-Fused Track ‘XO’
Lindsey Graham Has to Testify in Georgia Election Meddling Probe, Judge Rules
Lindsey Graham will have to testify before a Georgia grand jury investigating Donald Trump ’s push to overturn the 2020 election results in the state. The South Carolina senator had been fighting a subpoena for testimony issued last month. He lost the fight on Monday. “[T]he Court finds that the District Attorney has shown extraordinary circumstances and a special need for Senator Graham’s testimony on issues relating to alleged attempts to influence or disrupt the lawful administration of Georgia’s 2022 elections,” U.S. District Court Judge Leigh Martin May wrote in rejecting Graham’s challenge. Graham intends to appeal the ruling. “The Constitution’s Speech or Debate Clause prevents a local official from questioning a Senator about how that Senator did his job,” his office said in a statement announcing his intention to appeal, adding that the Judge May “ignored the constitutional text and binding Supreme Court precedent.” Graham, on multiple occasions after the 2020 … [Read more...] about Lindsey Graham Has to Testify in Georgia Election Meddling Probe, Judge Rules
