The week before a festival is usually dull because no producer wants a weekly window of less than 7 days. This week, two biggies are slated for August 11 (Thursday) release, Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan , so no producer of smaller films will plunge into this. Firstly, it will have one day less from its weekly count and secondly, it would have full chances to be pulled over by Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan . UK-based indie production and distribution company Bohemia Media will shift away from theatrical releases and expand its focus on developing video-on-demand projects in new plans set following the departure of its head of distribution Delphine Lievens. The company, which aims to champion projects made by filmmakers from under-represented and marginalised groups, will cut back its planned theatrical releases from twelve to six per year. Lievens — who joined Bohemia Media from Gower Street Analytics in November 2021 — will leave the company in September. In a statement shared on Twitter, Lievens said: “Last week I found out that I am being made redundant from my current role, due to scaling back on theatrical releases in the current uncertain climate. Sources tell me that The Weinstein Company is finalizing plans to launch a new video-on-demand division. I’ve heard that Harvey Weinstein is finishing a deal to bring aboard Tom Quinn and Jason Janego , both of whom were integral in building the VOD business of Magnolia Pictures. How this factors into the way that TWC does business at Toronto will be very interesting. From last Toronto to the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival in May, TWC has been the most prolific distributor acquiring films. Popular comedian Raju Srivastava was admitted to AIIMS Delhi after suffering a heart attack on August 10. As per the latest reports, the comedian is in critical condition and is kept on ventilator. Apparently, Raju underwent angioplasty on Wednesday and is responding to the treatment.
