‘The Traitors’ U.S. Premiere Becomes Most-Watched BBC Three Show Since Linear Relaunch
For the BBC , spooky mystery format The Traitors is the gift that keeps on giving. While BBC One’s UK version proved an outsized hit and ratings bonanza, the U.S. version’s premiere has just become the most-watched show on the relaunched BBC Three linear network. With 1.2M consolidated viewers over the past two weeks, the opening episode, titled The Game is Afoot, sits atop the BBC Three charts, according to Barb data supplied by Liam Hamilton. Separately, the U.S. version, which airs on Peacock and was acquired from All3 Media International, has also been available to watch in full on BBC iPlayer since the start of last month. Hosted by Alan Cumming , the U.S. version differs from the UK’s in that it mixes a number of reality TV icons with non-celebrities. Having become the most-watched Peacock reality series, it was greenlit for a second season yesterday along with an Andy Cohen-hosted reunion special for later this month. Super Bowl Commercials 2023: Watch Ads With Melissa McCarthy, Bryan Cranston, Serena Williams, Danny McBride And More
Super Sunday is upon us — and with it, Madison Avenue’s annual spending spree, which has seen the Big Game’s Hollywood quotient rise noticeably in recent years. Celebrity product pitches date back to the days of leather helmets, of course, but in the increasingly rare air of the Super Bowl they have started to overtake the left-field breakouts of the past by the likes of Puppy Monkey Baby or beer-loving frogs. With Fox’s telecast commanding a peak level of more than $7 million for 30-second spots, producers and brands again are banking on stars in a big way. Super Bowl LVII , a contest in Arizona between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs , will feature commercials starring Will Ferrell , Melissa McCarthy, Miles and Keleigh Teller and Sylvester Stallone, among others. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul reteam as their Breaking Bad characters to plug Popcorners . Brian Cox joins a roster of A-list athletes for a riff on Caddyshack , and Alicia Silverstone leads a … [Read more...] about Super Bowl Commercials 2023: Watch Ads With Melissa McCarthy, Bryan Cranston, Serena Williams, Danny McBride And More

Netflix has released a first look teaser for Unstable , starring Rob and John Owen Lowe , and announced a March 30 release date for the father-son comedy. Unstable follows an introverted son (John Owen Lowe) who goes to work for his very successful, wildly eccentric father ( Rob Lowe ) in order to save him and his successful biotech company from disaster. Grammy Awards Ratings Fall To Lowest Results Since 2009 – Update
2ND UPDATE, 10:31 AM: The numbers went down and then they went down even more. With specially ordered ratings now in from CBS, last night’s Grammy Awards took a double-digit blow in the key demo compared with last year’s ceremony. Among adults 18-49, the show, which ran from 8-11:39 PM, was down 14% to an 8.5 rating, and down 11% in viewers with 25.3 million. Both numbers were the lowest results in six years — the 2009 Grammys pulled a 7.4/18 rating and had 19.05 million total viewers. The dip may be in part due to the bite of the competing midseason return of AMC’s The Walking Dead last night. UPDATE, 8:50 AM: With performances from Kristen Wiig lip syncing and dancing along with Sia onstage, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett plus Paul McCartney, Kayne West and Rihanna together, among others, the 57 th annual Grammy Awards packed in a lot of action last night – and gave out some awards too. However, it looks to have taken a hit from 2014. In fast nationals, the show on … [Read more...] about Grammy Awards Ratings Fall To Lowest Results Since 2009 – Update
Lady Gaga’s Bowie Tribute Rocks Grammys Amid Cancellations & Tech Issues
It was a weird night for the 2016 Grammy Awards , marked by a series of setbacks that, while not derailing the telecast, certainly kept people talking as much about the glitches as the musical performances. But the evening’s signature moment went off without a hitch as Lady Gaga delivered a tribute to rock legend David Bowie a month and a half after he lost his battle with cancer at 69 . Watch the whole thing below. The performance, a collaboration with Chic’s Nile Rodgers (who had worked with Bowie), was a multimedia extravaganza made in partnership with Intel that saw multiple costume changes set to a medley of songs from Bowie’s long career. Computer graphics, holograms, live video processing and the like factored large in the performance, which featured Gaga renditions of Bowie hits “Space Oddity,” “Changes,” “Ziggy Stardust,” “Suffragette City,” “Rebel Rebel,” “Let’s Dance” and “Heroes”. Lady Gaga wasn’t the scene stealer though. That honor goes to Kendrick … [Read more...] about Lady Gaga’s Bowie Tribute Rocks Grammys Amid Cancellations & Tech Issues

UPDATED with content spend stats from annual report: Giant Amazon said its total expenses for video and music came to $16.6 billion last year, up from $13 billion in 2021. Video and music expense includes licensing and production costs associated with content offered within Amazon Prime memberships, and costs associated with digital subscriptions and sold or rented content, according to the company’s latest annual report that followed fourth quarter financials yesterday. On an earnings call Thursday, CFO Brian Olsavsky noted that Amazon spent $7 billion on originals, live sports and licensed content in 2022, up from $5 billion the year before. It’s unclear if those figures include all worldwide video content, which is increasingly central to Amazon’s strategy in driving membership for Prime, the biggest loyalty program in the world and the beating heart of the company.
