Rating: 2.5 /5 Star Cast: Addinath Kothare, Amruta Khanvilkar, Mrunmayee Deshpande, Dr.Mohan Agashe, Sameer Choughule, Prajakta Mali, Rajendra Shirsatkar Director: Prasad Oak Chandramukhi , based on Vishwas Patil's novel of the same name (with all allusions to Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's Devdas flitting through unacknowledged) is a love triangle set in the '70s when Lavani/Tamasha artistes were the rage in Maharashtra and some big politician had a destitute folk artiste as his paramour. Vishwas Patil's novel has politicians as the principal characters, so the drama basically comes from an illicit romantic liaison playing hara-kiri with a young and dashing, much married political scion's sky rocketing political career. Story The film opens with the funeral of an erstwhile minister of industry, Jamnalal Tripathi, who leaves behind a vacuum in the central cabinet - just the kind of chance ex-chief minister of Maharashtra-turned-political advisor to … [Read more...] about Chandramukhi Movie Review: An Earnest Amruta Khanvilkar In A Film That Has Its Moments

‘For All Mankind’ Season 3: Apple’s Stellar Space-Race Show Keeps Heading Into the Stratosphere
The marvelous Apple TV+ drama For All Mankind takes place in an alternate timeline where the Soviets put the first man on the moon, triggering a never-ending space race and a cascade of other changes from the history we know. The first two seasons dealt with US vs. USSR tensions, and then outright fighting on the lunar surface. The new season jumps ahead to the early Nineties and a new frontier, as three separate groups compete to see who will be the first to reach Mars: NASA, their Russian counterparts, and a tech company called Helios, whose enigmatic founder, Dev Ayesa (Edi Gathegi), has long been fascinated with space. In the course of trying to beat their rivals to the red planet, each group finds itself cutting corners and putting lives and resources at risk. FAM has no such competition. It’s not just that its second season was the best TV show of last year. It’s that no other drama on television is working in the same creative, for lack of a better term, space. It is … [Read more...] about ‘For All Mankind’ Season 3: Apple’s Stellar Space-Race Show Keeps Heading Into the Stratosphere
Develop Your Gratitude Rituals
Opinions expressed are solely those of the author and do not reflect the views of Rolling Stone editors or publishers. I checked into my first rehab program on May 14, 2008. I barely recognize the person I was before that date. I spent money with abandon, fraternized with a dangerous crowd and even crashed a few cars. I didn’t feel good about the life I was living, but I didn’t know how to change. The day before I was scheduled to start rehab, I went on a bender. I hopped on the plane drunk and I landed at a Utah airport hungover before staying at a local motel until I checked into the program the following morning. Similar to the intake process in jail, where I’d been a few times before then, they stripped me down to my skivvies and confiscated all my material possessions. From there, they gave me the most basic necessities, then they loaded me into a car alongside all my new gear and we drove close to one hundred miles into the Manti-La Sal National Forest, where I joined the … [Read more...] about Develop Your Gratitude Rituals
The Broken News Review: Sonali Bendre, Shriya Pilgaonkar & Jaideep Ahlawat In Top Form
Rating: 2.5 /5 Star Cast: Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Indraneil Sengupta, Faisal Rashid Director: Vinay Waikul Runtime: 8 episodes 38 mins. each A decent attempt at bringing to light the behind-the-small-screen skirmishes between two rival news channels, this BBC adaptation of the 2018 BBC One series “Press,” created by playwright-screenwriter Mike Bartlett, works up a fair bit of steam as it gathers news bytes on its way to the TRP sweepstakes. Awaaz Bharati is the idealistic news channel that prefers breaking genuine stories over competing for TRP’s with sensationalistic presentations that Josh 24x7, its polar opposite, revels in. Both teams - Awaaz Bharati’s led by Amina Qureshi (Sonali Bendre) and Josh 24x7s led by Dipanker Sanyal (Jaideep Ahlawat) go about news gathering and presenting in contrary fashion, where we see ethical journalism on a confrontational path with sensationalism. This is best exemplified … [Read more...] about The Broken News Review: Sonali Bendre, Shriya Pilgaonkar & Jaideep Ahlawat In Top Form

According to the Charlotte Observer , the 28-year-old was pulled over by a Kentucky state trooper around 10 AM on May 12 for driving a 2020 Honda Pilot rental too close to the car in front of him ... and during the stop, cops claim they smelled marijuana. Robinhood Engineer Who Helped ‘Solve’ Meme Stock Meltdown Sues Over Alleged ‘Toxic’ Sexism
In early February 2021, Ayşe Naz Erkan was riding high. The free online brokerage firm Robinhood was hailing the engineer a hero for helping “solve” the unprecedented backlog of customer support tickets that nearly buried the company amid the Reddit-fueled “meme stock” frenzy that skyrocketed shares of GameStop and AMC Entertainment. One year later, the artificial intelligence expert – touted by Forbes as one of the tech industry’s “leading women in A.I. research” – was unceremoniously fired the same day she returned to work after a trip abroad to care for her terminally ill mother in Turkey, she says. In a new lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone , Erkan claims the termination was “callously” and illegally carried out as retribution for her complaints about systemic problems at Robinhood, namely an alleged “toxic culture of gender bias and retaliation.” According to Erkan’s suit, her objective performance for the company was “unassailable.” She was the one who led the … [Read more...] about Robinhood Engineer Who Helped ‘Solve’ Meme Stock Meltdown Sues Over Alleged ‘Toxic’ Sexism
‘Mayans M.C.’: Elgin James Talks Season 4 Finale, Kim Coates Big Return
SPOILER ALERT: The following reveals major plot points from the Season 4 finale of FX ’s Mayans M.C. If there was any question left as to Coco’s (Richard Cabral) fate on FX’s Mayans M.C. , the Season 4 finale confirms the beloved character’s death as he is finally laid to rest. His life, like that of others running in similar circles, was cut short due to an act of violence that could’ve easily been avoided. But there’s no point lamenting how things could’ve been. Instead, Johnny “El Coco” Cruz was given a hero’s farewell worthy of a Marine who sacrificed for his country. In a particularly emotional scene, Coco’s best friend and brother-in-arms Gilly (Vincent “Rocco” Vargas) presented Coco’s daughter with the American flag that draped his casket. It’s worth noting Vargas is a real-life combat veteran who served his country proudly as part of the Army. The finale also serves as a big return for Kim Coates as Tig in an epic Sons of Anarchy crossover. … [Read more...] about ‘Mayans M.C.’: Elgin James Talks Season 4 Finale, Kim Coates Big Return
Your Ultimate Guide on What to Know Before Visiting Bonnaroo 2022
If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission. Bonnaroo is returning full speed as music festivals kick off the summer season in the U.S. While you may already be starting to pack your bags and figuring out what you need for your campsite (or glampsite), it’s best to take some extra precautions and coordinate a plan (which we assure you, is necessary). The annual fest returns after two years of cancellations, once due to Covid-19 , and the next year due to massive flooding on the festival grounds. It’s been the longest absence in Manchester, Tennessee at the now renamed “Bonnaroo Farm” for the first time since 2002. But The Farm is back to being packed with hundreds of thousands of attendees again this year, even after fans sold out the majority of VIP packages. Bonnaroo 2022’s update to its health and safety policies seems to reflect a growing trend in the festival circuit, … [Read more...] about Your Ultimate Guide on What to Know Before Visiting Bonnaroo 2022
‘Spiderhead’: Chris Hemsworth Goes Deranged Pharma Bro in a Soulless Anti-Tech Screed
Netflix’s Spiderhead , directed by Joseph Kosinski, is a movie about its own budget. It can afford a couple of big stars, so it has them — never mind whether the actors in question are an actual match for the material. The story plays out on a steely, vacuum-sealed set that lacks texture or warmth, which is by design: This is ultimately a story set in an experimental prison ward. But the movie makes frustratingly little of these environs, just sort of posturing and looking good, as if what matters most to the project is the ability to display its means, the ends be damned. The premise is alright: The titular Spiderhead is a penitentiary wing that counts among its wards a guy named Jeff, played by Miles Teller , and a woman named Lizzy, played by Jurnee Smollett. It is an unusual institution. Beyond mixing genders, Spiderhead bucks the conventions of prison attire (everyone seems to be dressed as they please), is distinctly lacking in cages or guards, and is stingy in its … [Read more...] about ‘Spiderhead’: Chris Hemsworth Goes Deranged Pharma Bro in a Soulless Anti-Tech Screed
