Michael Stanley, who parlayed rocker stardom in the ’70s and ’80s into successful stints in radio and television in his later years, died Friday of lung cancer at his home. He was 72 and his death was confirmed by his manager. Stanley’s rock career was solid in Ohio and the Midwest, but never quite broke through nationally, save for his hit song He Don’t Love You . He later was an afternoon drive DJ and Saturday mornings host playing classic rock on radio station 98.5 WNCX. He was at the station for more than 30 years, ending his stint just last month when ill health overtook him. He also won 11 local Emmy Awards as co-host of WJW Channel 8′s PM Magazine from 1987 to 1990, and then spent another year on the station’s Cleveland Tonight . ‘The Runaway Bunny’ Trailer: Tracee Ellis Ross Narrates HBO Max Animated Special Based On Classic Children’s Book
HBO Max has released a trailer and key art for The Runaway Bunny , an animated special based on the classic children’s book by Margaret Wise Brown. Tracee Ellis Ross narrates and performs an original lullaby by Brown in the special which premieres March 25 on HBO Max. The special also includes songs performed by Grammy-winning artists Mariah Carey, Kelly Rowland, Rosanne Cash, Ziggy Marley and Kimya Dawson, as well as Grammy nominees Rufus Wainwright and Michael Kiwanuka. Originally published in 1942 by HarperCollins Publishers, the book has sold over 12 million copies and continues to enchant generations of children. Friday Ratings: The ‘Shark Tank’ Juggernaut Swims On To Top Evening’s Demos
ABC ’s Shark Tank continues its Friday night ratings roll, as Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec and Daymond John brought in a solid 0.7 to lead the Friday night demo wars. In this episode, the Sharks considered the pitches from a Philadelphia chef’s plan for healthier meals, a Delaware woman’s stress-relief tools, an Iowa team’s idea for keeping drinks cool, and a Minnesota woman’s no-fuss solution to keep babies busy and entertained. We also had an update on how a hairstyling company benefits from Mark Cuban’s wisdom. That lead-in saw ABC’s 20/20 also score big, bringing in an 0.6 with its examination of a missing Myrtle Beach, SC woman ensnared in a love triangle. Disney’s Merlin Saga Targets Director Ridley Scott
According to reports, Disney is in negotiation with Ridley Scott to helm The Merlin Saga along with his production company, Scott Free. It is believed that the Merlin Saga will be Scott's next project, but nothing has been officially confirmed by Disney or Ridley Scott. All the Money in the World as well as Alien: Covenant were both directed by Scott in 2017 and All the Money in the World is seeing quite a bit of acclaim, even after removing Kevin Spacey from the project and replacing him with Christopher Plummer at the absolute last minute. Variety reports that Ridley Scott and Disney are in negotiations for the director to helm the Merlin Saga , which Academy Award winning screenwriter Philippa Boyens wrote the script for, based off of T.A. Barron's books. Boyens is best known for working with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh on all six Middle-earth films as well as on King Kong and The Lovely Bones . Sonantic Brings Artificial Intelligence To New Path For Voice-Overs
In the Zagar & Evans pop song classic In the Year 2525, the duo sang of a year where “some machine is doing that for you.” Voice-over actors, welcome to the future. A company called Sonantic has created what it claims is the first artificial intelligence voice models that sound genuinely human and capable of expressing “a wide range of complex human emotions, from fear and sadness to joy and surprise.” Gaming producers like Obsidian Entertainment, Splash Damage and 4A Games are already on board with the technology, which is in use from development through post-production. The concept is similar to CGI for audio. Human, realistic voice tech is in its infancy, but along with this brave new frontier is a new opportunity for voiceover artists – banking their words for future use.
