Women’s rights activist Malala Yousafzai , the youngest ever Nobel laureate, has entered a multi-year programming partnership with Apple TV+. Under the multi-year pact, The I Am Malala author will work with the streaming platform on a slate of original programming spanning dramas, documentaries, children’s’ series and more that draw on her ability to inspire people around the world. “I believe in the power of stories to bring families together, forge friendships, build movements, and inspire children to dream,” said Yousafzai. “And I couldn’t ask for a better partner than Apple to help bring these stories to life. DGA Awards TV Noms Include ‘Ted Lasso’, ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Bridgerton’ And ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Helmers
The Directors Guild of America on Monday revealed its nominations for the 73rd annual DGA Awards in the fields of TV, commercials and documentary. The guild, which will unveil its theatrical feature film and first-time feature film nominees tomorrow, will announce this year’s winners April 10 during a virtual event. Among the notable nominees today was Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso , the Golden Globe and Critics Choice winner. It snagged two noms today for directors Zach Braff and MJ Delaney in the Comedy Series category. It is joined there by HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm which also pulled off the double, for helmers Erin O’Malley and Jeff Schaffer. Jon Favreau was nominated for two separate projects: for Disney+’s The Mandalorian in Dramatic Series and Netflix’s The Chef Show in Reality. ‘Home & Family’ Resuming Production, Sets Return In Reimagined Format On Hallmark Channel
EXCLUSIVE: Hallmark Channel ’s Emmy-nominated daytime lifestyle series Home & Family is set to return following a Covid-19-related production hiatus, in a reimagined format. The popular show is resuming production on Monday, March 29, with new episodes slated to air beginning Monday, April 5. Home & Family , which previously aired Monday through Friday from 10 am to noon ET, will now air three days a week, Monday through Wednesday, from 10 am to 11 am ET. “This change tightens the show, allowing us to created more in-depth segments and interviews,” a spokesperson for the Crown Media Family Network’s channel said in a statement to Deadline. Mark Wilson, Magician on TV’s ‘The Magic Land of Allakazam,’ Dies at 91
He taught the craft to Cary Grant and Johnny Carson and performed with Glen Campbell in Las Vegas. Mark Wilson, an influential magician who played a pioneering role in proving that magic could thrive on television, has died. He was 91. Wilson died Jan. 19 of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles, a publicist announced. From 1960-65, Wilson produced and starred with his wife, Nani Darnell, in the first network TV series of its type, The Magic Land of Allakazam , which ran on Saturday mornings on CBS, ABC and then in syndication and featured Bev Bergeron as Rebo the Clown. In addition to performing all over the world with his wife and their sons, Greg and Mike, Wilson taught celebrities like Cary Grant, Bill Bixby and Johnny Carson how to employ magic in their work and helped set up tricks for films, TV productions, commercials, amusement parks and live attractions.
