EXCLUSIVE: International Literary Properties (ILP), which holds rights to the estates of the likes of Evelyn Waugh , Maigret author Georges Simenon and Van Der Valk’s Nicolas Freeling, has bolstered its legal team with a triple hire including Disney alum Lisa Logan. Logan joins as General Counsel for EMEA alongside new North America VP, Legal and Business Affairs, Barbara Cohen and Rights Manager Sabina Pekin. Logan, who will be the primary legal resource in terms of managing IP, is an industry veteran who worked for more than a decade in-house with Disney, Nickelodeon and Discovery Channel before moving to private practice. She is a former Partner and Head of Media/TV at Gately and then Simkins. Cohen will lead business affairs for North American acquisition activity and Pekin, who will report to Logan, will manage contracts and rights. As triple j get ready to hold their annual Hottest 100 celebrations on Saturday, January 22nd, they’re doing things a little bit differently this year, kicking off the festivities with their list of the tracks that almost made it. Having revealed the 100 songs that didn’t quite make the top tonne since 2008, it’s only been since the 2012 countdown that triple j have been playing the top 200 for your listening pleasure. For close to a decade, the station have assuaged all cries of “But what about…?” by sharing the second 100 on the days following the countdown. Colin Callender’s Playground and Red Arrow Studios International are joining forces to co-develop a premium English-language returning drama series based on Georges Simenon ’s classic Inspector Maigret novels. Georges Simenon Limited (GSL) will act as co-production partner. Playground’s option deal with GSL extends to all 75 novels and 28 short stories based on the Jules Maigret character who solves murders using his understanding of human motives and emotional makeup. Sally Jo Fifer is stepping down after 22 years as CEO of Independent Television Service, the documentary production and funding powerhouse. EXCLUSIVE: Legendary Entertainment, Feigco Entertainment and Ghost House have closed a deal for a feature adaptation of the novel Suburban Hell from author Maureen Kilmer. Joanna Calo has been tapped to write the script, with Paul Feig and Laura Fischer of Feigco Entertainment producing alongside Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert of Ghost House. Romel Adam and Jose Cañas will oversee for Ghost House. Published in 2022, the novel tells the story of a tight-knit group of suburban moms whose friendship is put to the ultimate test when one of them becomes possessed by an evil spirit. The genre-bending premise brings together Feig and Raimi, with Feig being one of the top producers of comedy over the past decade while Raimi has been a horror master going back to the ’80s. PBS Masterpiece is on board a series adaptation of Anthony Horowitz’s Moonflower Murders , a follow up to its Magpie Murders adaptation. The network will co-produce Moonflower Murders with the BBC. It comes after Magpie Murders aired on the U.S. public broadcaster and BritBox last year. The commission was announced at PBS’ TCA press tour. The book, which is a sequel to Magpie Murders, takes place after that story and focuses on the disappearance of a hotel employee, using a story-within-a-story device. Lesley Manville returns as editor turned sleuth Susan Ryeland with Timothy McMullan returning as famous literary detective Atticus Pünd. Tusk V , the University of Arkansas' legendary live mascot, has died, the school announced Tuesday. He was 4 years old. The University released a statement on Tusk V's passing ... saying he died of natural causes at his home outside of Dardanelle, Arkansas. Tusk, born on April 19, 2018, served as the school's official live mascot for three years (2019-2022) and witnessed the football team win two bowl games during his tenure. Tusk V was a staple on the sidelines at Razorbacks games ... and would routinely interact with fans throughout the season. Getty Tusk V's last regular season appearance was on Nov. 19 at the team's home finale ... when Arkansas defeated Ole Miss 42-27 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
