Disney , Marvel and Pixar solidified their upcoming movie slates for the next few years, setting release dates for 19 different feature films. These wildly diverse movies, which range from superhero sequels ( Ant-Man and the Wasp ) to animated projects (Coco) will all be released in just a three year span, between 2017 and 2020. Unfortunately, the studios didn't offer any titles for some of these release dates, but these projects surely represent a diverse slate for all of these studios. Starting with Disney, the studio set a December 22, 2017 release date for an Untitled Disney Fairy Tale , which will be a live action project. Disney didn't release any plot details for this fairy tale, but it will go up against the animated sequel The Croods 2 . Disney set two release dates for 2018, with Gigantic opening on March 9, 2018 and Untitled Disney Fairy Tale #2 set for November 2, 2018, both of which don't have any direct competitors as of yet. Less than a week after Disney announced a live-action version of Aladdin , The Hollywood Reporter reveals the studio is also developing a live-action remake of The Sword in the Stone . Disney has hired Bryan Cogman , a writer and producer on HBO's Game of Thrones , to write the screenplay. Brigham Taylor, a former Disney production executive, is serving as a producer on the project. The original animated movie The Sword in the Stone was released in 1963, the studio's last animated movie to debut before the death of Walt Disney himself in 1966. The story is loosely inspired by T.H. White's novel of the same name, which was later added into his multi-book King Arthur series The Once and Future King . The plot centers on a young King Arthur who begins training with the wizard Merlin, leading to Arthur pulling the enchanted sword from the stone to become the king of England. When director Christopher Nolan 's latest movie was announced, the idea was that mostly unknowns would make up the main cast. That may not necessarily be true, as the WWII epic Dunkirk has possibly locked in one of this generation's biggest stars. And it's a casting announcement that will surely surprise some of Christopher Nolan 's most hardcore fans. The iconic filmmaker behind The Dark Knight trilogy is rumored to have recruited One Direction singer and certified heartthrob Harry Styles to help lead his army of young soldiers in this true-life tale. Warner Bros. hasn't confirmed that Harry Styles has signed on for the movie quite yet, with Deadline breaking what is only considered a hot rumor at the moment.
