Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation have unveiled the official title and full cast for the third film in their hit animated musical franchise, Trolls , which opens in theaters nationwide on November 17. Returning to lead the threequel, Trolls Band Together , as expected, are Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick. Matthew Broderick and Laura Benanti will star in an Off Broadway production of A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters for a (very) limited run: The production at the Irish Repertory Theatre will run from May 30 to June 4 for eight performances. The Gurney play will be the second of two parts of Irish Rep’s The Letters Series, which will kick off with Jerome Kilty & George Bernard Shaw’s Dear Liar starring Melissa Errico and David Staller. That play will start its eight-performance run on April 25 and conclude April 30. Both productions will be performed on the Irish Rep’s 148-seat Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage. Love Letters will be directed by Irish Rep producing director Ciarán O’Reilly, and Dear Liar will be directed by the company’s artistic director Charlotte Moore. EXCLUSIVE: A film adaptation of the Jerry Torre memoir The Marble Faun of Grey Gardens is in the works by Unger Media . Torre’s story was detailed in the book co-authored by him and Tony Maietta released in 2018. Torre was nicknamed “The Marble Faun” by Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale and her daughter Edith Bouvier Beale, better known as Big Edie and Little Edie and the aunt and cousin, respectively, of former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. As a teen, Torre appeared in their 1975 documentary, Grey Gardens . The forthcoming film, also titled The Marble Faun of Grey Gardens, will tell the story of a gay teenage runaway from Brooklyn framing Big Edie and Little Edie as the misguided guardian angels in his life—and beyond. With demand surging for sports-themed films and TV series, Authentic Brands Group and David Glasser’s 101 Studios have launched Sports Illustrated Studios, an exclusive home for film and TV adaptations of the magazine’s work. Plans call for several scripted or unscripted feature films and TV series per year, as well as podcasts. Their basis will be the magazine’s “unique looks at the culture and characters that transcend the game,” in the words of the official announcement. In charge of all production, distribution and marketing for Sports Illustrated Studios will be 101 Studios, which Glasser started after leaving his longtime post at the Weinstein Company. Netflix has ordered Man on Fire , a drama series adaptation based on A.J. Quinnell’s Man on Fire and The Perfect Kill , the first two books in Quinnell’s five-book series. The project hails from writer/executive producer Kyle Killen ( Fear Street: Part One – 1994 , Halo ), New Regency Productions, producer of Tony Scott’s classic 2004 film starring Denzel Washington, and Chernin Entertainment. The Roys are back with a vengeance. The Season 4 premiere of Succession drew an audience of 2.3M on Sunday across HBO Max and linear telecasts, which is a series high for same-day viewers. Total viewing for Sunday night was up 62% compared to Season 3’s premiere viewership of 1.4M in October 2021. At the time, that marked the best premiere night performance of any HBO original series since HBO Max launched in May 2020. Sunday’s viewership is also up about 33% from the Season 3 finale’s 1.7M. Season 3 averaged about 7.2M viewers per episode, according to HBO. HBO also says that all previous seasons of Succession saw a 4x increase in viewership in the week leading up to the Season 4 premiere, compared to the week prior. While viewing for Succession Season 4 does trail behind other Sunday shows like House of the Dragon, The Last of Us and Euphoria, the premiere episode tracked ahead of the Season 2 premiere of The White Lotus (1.9M).
