Saturday Night Live host Don Cheadle used his clothes for political and social messaging this week as part of his duties (see the photo of his transgender support), and managed to sneak in a wry message about President Donald Trump into the closing segment. As the cast and guests lined up for the traditional farewell, Cheadle stood front and center wearing a hockey jersey from the former Soviet Union. The televised portion cut away for the west coast, but Cheadle turned around and revealed the name of the Jersey’s owner: “Trump.” Fortunately, the full moment was captured by social media, which heartily approved. Tom and Jerry return to theaters and HBO Max in a hipster, live-action film that's strictly for younger children. The classic Hanna-Barbera cat and mouse cartoon are still the best of frenemies. But get a modern update that rankled my old-school sensibilities. I knew things were going to be different when an animated pigeon starts rapping in the opening scene. The film isn't a musical, but there are a few auto-tuned songs that turned me off completely. That said, Tom & Jerry are still up to the usual bag of tricks. Tom chases Jerry, gets pummelled in numerous creative ways, and Jerry escapes laughing. Kids will be entertained by the hijinks. Adults and fans of the shorts will find the updated storyline lacking. Lady Gaga's dog saga comes to a happy ending with the safe return of the singer's stolen French Bulldogs. On Wednesday night, two of Gaga's three dogs were taken by thieves who callously shot the dog walker . Fortunately, Gaga's assistant survived and is expected to make a full recovery. Extremely distraught over the missing pets, Gaga had also offered a $500,000 reward for the dogs' safe return with "no questions asked." Friday evening at around 6 p.m., the stolen dogs were returned at the LAPD's Olympic Community Police Station. Physically unharmed (but probably traumatized), the dogs have since been returned to Lady Gaga's representatives. The singer reportedly cried "tears of joy" when she heard that the dogs were back home. Meanwhile, Gaga's assistant is said to be in serious but stable condition. Reportedly, the dogs were returned by a woman who "appears to be a good samaritan" and claims to have simply found the dogs and brought them in.
