What ever happened to just sitting at a bar and having a beer, with maybe a game of darts or pool thrown in? It seems like this generation of drinkers wants to be entertained while they’re out, in ever crazier ways — trivia, bingo, board games, yoga, mini golf, and even axe throwing. Business owners appreciate the extra crowds that entertainment can bring on a night that might otherwise be slow, so it’s no coincidence that there are more choices of oddball things to do on a Tuesday. One of the most ubiquitous forms of alternative bar entertainment is trivia, and in the Twin Cities, that generally means Trivia Mafia. Founders Chuck Terhark and Sean McPherson began offering bar trivia at the 331 Club in Northeast Minneapolis in 2007. When other bars noticed that the trivia nights attracted crowds, they began to expand.
