Almost nine months to the day after the surprise announcement that CAA was acquiring ICM Partners , the deal is finally going through after getting government approval to create a mega agency in the biggest linkup in the space since the WMA-Endeavor merger. More than 50 positions are expected to be eliminated; that includes the couple of dozen agents and other staffers who have left in the past few months after the regulatory approval process dragged on, delaying the deal by about six months from the time frame CAA and ICM originally had projected. As Deadline reported earlier this month , the ICM agents whom the combined company wants to keep recently received formal invitations and non-negotiable offers, which have not been received well. In the action-adventure pic from writer-director Kelly Blatz , a dishonorably discharged soldier (Apa) seeks out his estranged father (Dane) to help him pursue his dream of racing Supersport motorcycles. Roku has teamed with NBCUniversal to offer eight local NBC stations as free offerings on its popular Roku Channel . It is the first time local stations will be on the Roku Channel, which the company says has reach to households with 80 million people. Middle East and North Africa distributor Front Row Filmed Entertainment has snapped up regional distribution rights for Saudi action picture Route 10, starring rising local talents Fatima AlBanawi and Baraa Alem. The company is planning a wide theatrical launch in Saudi Arabia on July 28 via Front Row Arabia, its joint venture with the territory’s biggest home-grown exhibitor Muvi Cinemas . The partners launched the label in early 2021 in response to the growing Saudi demand for feature film content for theatrical release in the wake of the territory’s lifting of its 35-year cinema ban at the end of 2017. Front Row will also release the title in other MENA territories at the same time. The film is among a growing body of Saudi feature productions to come to fruition over the last 12 months, as a local film industry begins to take root. Actor, professional boxer and Indigenous rights advocate Kali Reis is set to star opposite Jodie Foster in True Detective : Night Country. With both leads in place, Season 4 of the crime thriller anthology series has received a formal greenlight by HBO . Reis recently burst into the Hollywood scene with her acting debut in the indie film Catch the Fair One, on which she also helped develop the story with director Josef Kubota Wladyka. Her performance earned her a special Jury Mention for Best Actress at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival, where the film won the Audience Award, as well as a 2022 Indie Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Lead. It also got the attention of True Detective producers. Reis was identified as the choice for the co-lead opposite Foster weeks ago. Radio talk host Howard Stern is so upset about the overturning of Roe v. Wade he’s threatening to run for president. On his SiriusXM radio show on Monday, Stern said “If I do run for president, and I’m not f*cking around, I’m really thinking about it, because the only other thing I’m going to do is appoint five more Supreme Court justices.” His primary goal, he said, is, “I would have is to make the country fair again.” Stern said he told co-host Robin Quivers, “I’m actually gonna probably have to run for president now” following the overturning of Roe v. Wade. “The problem with most presidents is they have too big of an agenda. The only agenda I would have is to make the country fair again.” Stern said he’d also do away with the Electoral College. In his first television interview since his unconditional release this month, the man who shot President Ronald Reagan in an attempted assassination attempt told CBS Mornings today that his three recently canceled singer-songwriter performances at venues in Brooklyn, Chicago and Connecticut won’t be rescheduled in what correspondent Major Garrett said was the “foreseeable future.” Watch the interview above.
