Following the shooting deaths of 11 people in an anti-Semitic massacre at a Pittsburgh synagogue, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders slammed the media for its coverage of the killings. The target of her rage? The Washington Post, which ran a front page story with the words, “Trump, allies set the tone for the violence they denounce, critics say.” “Is there any tragedy the Washington Post won’t exploit to attack President @realDonaldTrump?” Sanders tweeted Sunday. “The evil act of anti-Semitism in Pittsburg was committed by a coward who hated President Trump because @POTUS is such an unapologetic defender of the Jewish community and state of Israel.” The alleged shooter, Robert Bowers, entered the Squirrel Hill Tree of Life synagogue and gunned down people inside on Saturday. In the immediate aftermath, his social media accounts revealed hateful messages about the Jewish community. Questions are now being raised over … [Read more...] about Sarah Sanders Blasts Media For Shooting Coverage: Is There Any Tragedy The Washington Post Won’t Exploit?
In a Tuesday evening tweetstorm, President Donald Trump launched yet another attack against The Washington Post, accusing the publication of inventing sources and fabricating quotes. “The Washington Post is constantly quoting ‘anonymous sources’ that do not exist,” he said. “Rarely do they use the name of anyone because there is no one to give them the kind of negative quote that they are looking for. They are a discgrace to journalism but then again, so are many others!” Realizing he’d criticized the work of a reputable media outlet by misspelling the word “disgrace,” Trump promptly deleted then retweeted his verbal assault. But not before Mediaite grabbed a screenshot of the original: Trump has repeatedly targeted the Post for its reporting, angered by his inability to stem White House leaks to the media that have resulted in headline-making scoops. Among other favorite labels of his for the publication … [Read more...] about Trump Goes After the Washington Post for Using Anonymous Sources: ‘A Discgrace to Journalism’
A lot of hires need to be rethought very soon after the fact (*cough Kevin Williamson cough*), and The Washington Post‘s decision to bring on a Sesame Street character may fall into that category. To celebrate and promote Cookie Monster‘s new book, The Joy of Cookies, the fuzzy and blue monster took a turn as an investigative reporter for The Washington Post, and he predictably sucked at it. “The new guy started here last week. He’s a little eccentric,” reporter Ron Charles says in an Office-like interview. “But he’s been in the media almost 50 years, he must be doing something right.” Over the course of the video, Cookie Monster eats everything in sight, including a pencil, a piece of paper with a cookie on it, and even some awards. “He ate my Pulitzer,” reporter David Fahrenthold laments as reporter Wesley Lowery bursts into laughter. “Me first few days here have been a little rocky,” Cookie admits. “But me … [Read more...] about WATCH: Cookie Monster Joins The Washington Post Staff, Eats Pulitzer Prizes
President Trump‘s ire at the mainstream media was pretty well-juxtaposed tis morning with his love of Fox News. This morning on Twitter, the President tweeted out a quote from last night’s Watters World, adding, “So true, Jesse!” “The FBI closed the case on Hillary, which was a rigged investigation. They exonerated her even before they ever interviewed her, they never even put her under oath…..” and much more. So true Jesse! @WattersWorld — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 8, 2018 That was immediately followed by him going after the Washington Post: The Washington Post is far more fiction than fact. Story after story is made up garbage – more like a poorly written novel than good reporting. Always quoting sources (not names), many of which don’t exist. Story on John Kelly isn’t true, just another hit job! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 8, 2018 Trump is presumably referring to last … [Read more...] about Trump Lashes Out at the Washington Post Over John Kelly Report: ‘Made Up Garbage’
