Since season 6, The Walking Dead’s biggest antagonist has been the barbed wire bat-wielding Negan – but could he possibly be redeemed? The instant reaction from most Walking Dead fans to that question is likely to be a resounding no, for completely understandable emotional reasons. After all, Negan brutally murdered popular characters Glenn Rhee and Abraham Ford in the season 7 premiere. He was also indirectly responsible for Sasha’s suicide, and even threw one of the Doctors Carson into a furnace. In short, Negan is far, far from a good person. That said, there was at least one Walking Dead character who firmly believed that he could be, that of course being the recently deceased Carl Grimes. The fact that Carl wrote Negan a letter as he prepared for death – and perhaps more importantly, envisioned Negan in his ideal future – means that the admittedly perhaps too idealistic teenager truly thought that Negan could be convinced to turn peaceful. As absurd … [Read more...] about The Walking Dead: Negan Can Still Become A Hero

The Walking Dead’s ratings continue to drop lower and lower. At a certain point, all that will be left are the most dedicated viewers – and that may not be far off. It’s no secret that The Walking Dead has spent the majority of its AMC run as the highest-rated scripted series on TV, and that’s even when the big four broadcast networks are figured in. Unfortunately, it’s also no secret that TWD’s ratings have been steadily dropping the last few years, and that trend has shown no signs of abating during Season 8.At this point, those behind The Walking Dead claim to not be sweating the declining ratings too much, and that’s somewhat understandable. When one starts from such a high perch, there is a long way to fall before one reaches the bottom. Unfortunately, TWD’s ratings cushion won’t last forever, and many fans have already begun to wonder just how many more seasons the apocalyptic series has left in its shambling, undead … [Read more...] about If The Walking Dead Keeps Losing Viewers, No One Will Be Watching By 2021
x Though death has come knocking for young Carl Grimes (see AMC’s heartfelt tribute to Rick’s closest ally here), Norman Reedus believes The Walking Dead season 8B will still bring closure and “resolution” when it airs this Sunday. Set to kick things off with the super-sized “Honor” on February 25th, the back-end of The Walking Dead is all about tying up loose ends, according to Norman Reedus, who spoke candidly to Entertainment Weekly ahead of the show’s return this coming weekend. And don’t worry, it’s totally free of spoilers, as Reedus paints in broad strokes when discussing season 8’s long-anticipated climax: It’s all resolution. It’s all the tying up of these ends of what’s laid out in front of us in all these different directions. There’s a lot of closure coming in the back eight, which is great. There’s been all this action and all the fighting and all these different factions that … [Read more...] about Norman Reedus Talks Resolution Ahead Of The Walking Dead Season 8B
Life is never easy for Rick in Image/Skybound Comics'The Walking Dead. Just as Rick has seen a glimpse of the future in the Hilltop community, the group of survivors appears to have something more pressing on their plate before they can prepare to go to bat for their new friends. In Issue No. 97 of the comic series created by Robert Kirkman, Rick's son, Carl, has seemingly wandered off in the time it took for Rick to explain why he's willing to risk the lives of Michonne, Glenn and Andrea, among others, to go to bat for Gregory and the Hilltop community. While Andrea and Michonne think it's a mistake to fight for a group whom they see as a cult, Rick and Glenn see it as the start of something new, where they can begin to rebuild civilization -- and something worth fighting Negan and the violent leader of the Saviors. In the first five pages of Part 1 of Something to Fear, exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter, Carl is missing, while the fierce Maggie is surprisingly ill and Abraham and … [Read more...] about Image/Skybound Comics’ ‘The Walking Dead’ No. 97 Preview (Exclusive)
[Warning: This story contains spoilers from the Walking Dead comic books on which the AMC series is based.] When it comes to The Walking Dead, the shark isn't the only thing that gets jumped. In the original comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Charlie Adlard, the story of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his companions is mostly told in real time, from the Atlanta days to the Alexandria days, and even through the war against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors. Then, something jarring happens: in the 127th issue of the series, the story suddenly leaps forward several years, revealing an Alexandria Safe Zone that truly lives up to its name. Between the Hilltop, the Kingdom and other sanctuaries (including the literal Sanctuary), Rick has managed to actualize his vision for a safer future. He's successfully organized a network of communities working together in harmony, clearing out walkers and creating safe roads between the various … [Read more...] about Will ‘The Walking Dead’ Feature the Big Time Jump From the Comics?
