Smash hit gameshow The Traitors has been renewed for a second season by the BBC . In one of the least surprising bits of commissioning news of the year so far, the pubcaster has opted to greenlight a 12-part series two of the Claudia Winkleman -hosted gameshow in which a group of ‘faithfuls’ try and smoke out three ‘traitors’ while living in a castle. The group compete in challenges and each night one is ‘banished’ from the castle and another is ‘murdered’ by the ‘traitors’. The word-of-mouth hit was all the British TV industry could talk about over Christmas, coming in for praise for its high-octane drama, diversity and range of authentic contestants. The show attracted more than 3M viewers per episode overnight for the BBC when it aired around Christmas time and was the biggest new series for young people of the year, according to the BBC. BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James is to host Channel 4 reality series Rise and Fall from The Traitors maker Studio Lambert . James hosts BBC Radio 1 Breakfast, one of the most-listened-to UK radio shows, and Rise and Fall represents one of his few TV hosting gigs. He will oversee the action on Channel 4’s latest big entertainment bet, in which 16 ordinary British people from all walks of life begin the game as equals but soon find themselves either in a position of power as a Ruler or as part of the powerless as a Grafter. While the Rulers live in an opulent penthouse, the Grafters must survive in basic conditions in the basement. Amazon is continuing to try and find a hot date after ordering a new competition series hosted by WWE stars Brie and Nikki Bella . The streamer has greenlit Twin Love from ITV Entertainment. It will air on Prime Video and in the U.S. and UK and premiere simultaneously on free streamer Freevee. Twin Love is a social dating experiment that explores the love lives of identical twins. Ten sets of twins will be split up and placed into two houses of identical casts, where they’ll begin a unique and compelling search for love. The series will discover if their inherent similarities extend to their romantic desires. When separated from their twin brothers and sisters—some for the first time ever—will they pursue the same identical partners? Or will their choices be dramatically different? Former Big Brother host Davina McCall is to host a Love Island- style ITV format for older people. In The Romance Retreat (working title ), McCall, who also helmed Channel 4’s Language of Love, will oversee a UK country house in which single parents from all walks of life seek true love. McCall told Stephen Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast several weeks ago that she had pitched the idea to ITV. A casting call has been issued for the series, which apes the format of ITV juggernaut Love Island. That show wrapped up its winter season earlier this week, with more than 1M viewers tuning in for Monday night’s final.
