California Skydiver Rescued After Crash-Landing Into Power Lines

March 28, 2023 by www.tmz.com

CAL FIRE A California skydiver's jump on Monday nearly ended in tragedy -- she crash-landed into power lines -- but, thankfully, she was able to miraculously walk away from the scene unharmed. The Riverside County Fire Department said it got a call regarding the stuck skydiver at around 11:53 a.m. on Monday. Firefighters rushed to the scene in Lake Elsinore ... but they had to leave the woman hanging for 40 minutes as utility workers needed to cut the power from the wires before they could safely extract her. CAL FIRE In photos from the scene, you can see the woman was entwined in a powerline as first responders raced to get her down safely. Eventually, they were able to untangle her and bring her down to the ground, where she was evaluated by medics. Thankfully, the woman was uninjured ... and later explained to NBC Los Angeles that she was trying to avoid another power line on her way down to the landing zone, causing her to crash. … [Read more...] about California Skydiver Rescued After Crash-Landing Into Power Lines

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Boss On Season 5 Finale, Plans For June’s Conclusion & ‘The Testaments’

November 8, 2022 by deadline.com

SPOILER ALERT: The story below reveals major plot points from Hulu ’s The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 finale. Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale wrapped up its fifth season tonight and while a lot has changed for June Osborne ( Elisabeth Moss ), the season ends in ways similar to how it all began. When viewers first meet June, she is torn apart from her husband Luke (O-T Fagbenle) and the life they shared with their daughter Hannah—a scene that’s imitated in the Season 5 finale. June and her daughter Nichole board a train for an unknown future in Hawaii as Luke is arrested by the authorities. His arrest is unfair considering Luke was saving his wife from a man attempting to kill her by running her over in his truck but here we are—the world is crumbling. It’s worth noting the hired hitman was sent by Gilead to dispose of the thorn in their side once and for all but failed. If June was a cat, she’d be down to three lives if my math is accurate. A big part of her she’s … [Read more...] about ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Boss On Season 5 Finale, Plans For June’s Conclusion & ‘The Testaments’

‘Succession’ Soars To Series High Audience Of 2.3M For Final Season Premiere

March 28, 2023 by deadline.com

The Roys are back with a vengeance. The Season 4 premiere of Succession drew an audience of 2.3M on Sunday across HBO Max and linear telecasts, which is a series high for same-day viewers. Total viewing for Sunday night was up 62% compared to Season 3’s premiere viewership of 1.4M in October 2021. At the time, that marked the best premiere night performance of any HBO original series since HBO Max launched in May 2020. Sunday’s viewership is also up about 33% from the Season 3 finale’s 1.7M. Season 3 averaged about 7.2M viewers per episode, according to HBO. HBO also says that all previous seasons of Succession saw a 4x increase in viewership in the week leading up to the Season 4 premiere, compared to the week prior. While viewing for Succession Season 4 does trail behind other Sunday shows like House of the Dragon, The Last of Us and Euphoria, the premiere episode tracked ahead of the Season 2 premiere of The White Lotus (1.9M). By the end of the … [Read more...] about ‘Succession’ Soars To Series High Audience Of 2.3M For Final Season Premiere

Paramount Sets 1980s Action Thriller ‘Bella’ With Samara Weaving

March 28, 2023 by deadline.com

EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures is developing the action thriller Bella with Scream VI actress Samara Weaving set to star in the Larysa Kondracki -directed title. Craig Flores is producing via Bread & Circuses Entertainment and Chad Stahleski is producing through his 87eleven Entertainment. Alex Young and Jason Spitz are executive producing via 87eleven. Jesse Wigutow is writing based on Jason Markarian’s script. Set against the backdrop of a crime wave that gripped New York City in the ’80s, Bella is a hyperstylized action thriller about a cop’s daughter who, as her father clings to life following an assassination attempt, goes on a rampage to unearth her father’s attacker and weed out deep-rooted corruption in the New York City Police Department. Flores tells Deadline: “ Bella cleverly reinvents the female-led action genre pairing a sexy and unapologetic rock ‘n’ roll edge with the gritty heightened realism of ’80s New York City. Collaborating … [Read more...] about Paramount Sets 1980s Action Thriller ‘Bella’ With Samara Weaving

‘House Of The Dragon’ To Get Shorter Season 2 As HBO Series Eyes Season 3 Greenlight

March 28, 2023 by deadline.com

EXCLUSIVE : The upcoming second season of HBO ’s House of the Dragon will consist of eight episodes, two fewer than Season 1 of the Critics Choice Award-winning Game of Thrones prequel. It is part of a long-term plan for the show, which includes HBO mulling a green light for a third season, I have learned. The news comes as production is about to begin on Season 2 in the UK for a likely summer 2024 premiere. In what is a relatively common practice, HBO did not reveal the episode order in the Season 2 renewal announcement last summer. I hear the initial plan was for another 10-episode arc, which eventually changed, leading to some script rewrites. Given the leadership change at HBO’s parent company, some pointed at Warner Bros. Discovery leadership’s focus on cost-cutting. An HBO spokesperson, who confirmed to Deadline that Season 2 will contain 8 episodes, stressed that the episode count trim was story-driven. It has been reported that House of the Dragon’s creative … [Read more...] about ‘House Of The Dragon’ To Get Shorter Season 2 As HBO Series Eyes Season 3 Greenlight
