Jen Psaki will join MSNBC this fall, as the network made the official announcement of her plans following her tenure as White House press secretary. Psaki will appear across all the network’s programs, and also will have a role on NBC and during MSNBC’s primetime election coverage during the midterms and the 2024 presidential election. MSNBC said that she also is developing a program for the network’s streaming channel. News of Psaki’s move to MSNBC leaked in April, as she was still press secretary, but she declined to confirm it publicly. She held her last White House press briefing on May 13. Her move to MSNBC is not unusual, as there has been a revolving door between presidential administrations and cable news gigs. Symone Sanders, who served as chief spokesperson to Vice President Kamala Harris, recently launched an MSNBC weekend show, Symone , that also appears on the network’s Peacock streaming channel. Donald Trump recruited a number of cable news … [Read more...] about MSNBC Makes It Official: Jen Psaki To Join Network In Fall, Will Host New Show For Streaming Channel

Tom Cruise Makes James Corden His Reluctant Goose on a Wild ‘Top Gun’ Jet Ride
Tom Cruise made James Corden his extremely reluctant Goose stand-in as he took the Late Late Show host out for a ride in a pair of fighter jets to mark the release of Top Gun: Maverick . The segment began with Cruise picking up Corden at the airport at five in the morning, then taking him for a topsy-turvy ride on a 1944 airplane. But the real fun — or horror, for Corden — began when Cruise started prepping Corden for a ride on a much faster, modern jet. When Corden tried to run off, Cruise stopped him and insisted the comedian was his Goose — the character played by Anthony Edwards in the first Top Gun flick. As Corden quickly noted, however, “When you say, ‘I’m your Goose,’ it makes me feel excited, and then I realize that Goose dies at the end of the film.” Cruise then eased Corden’s anxiety by insisting he was only Goose from the movie’s first half. “That’s the Goose I want to be,” joked Corden. “I want to be in a bar, singing ‘You’ve Lost That … [Read more...] about Tom Cruise Makes James Corden His Reluctant Goose on a Wild ‘Top Gun’ Jet Ride

Are Special Purpose Acquisition Companies Poised To Shake Up The Media Space? — Deadline Disruptors
Special purpose acquisition companies—known as SPACs —have been all the rage in the world of investment for the last two years, and they’ve made a mark in the media space, but is the trend slowing down? Known as ‘blank check companies’, SPACs are publicly traded investment vehicles that raise capital solely to acquire existing companies. They are often fronted by a well-known figure and are seen as a simpler alternative to going public via an IPO. They can also provide everyman investors with an opportunity to tap into the high growth that some companies experience in their early years. At the same time, of course, a disappointing debut can register significant losses. In some instances, SPACs will be announced with specific investment targets in mind, like when Virgin Galactic completed a successful SPAC merger in 2019 and launched a trend of similar endeavours across the past two years.
