EXCLUSIVE : Blue Finch Films has boarded international sales (excluding North America) to Mali Elfman’s sci-fi mystery , which premiered at Tribeca earlier this year. North American distribution will be handled by Magnolia Pictures. The film marks the directorial debut for Mali Elfman and stars Katie Parker ( The Fall Of The House Of Usher ) and Rahul Kohli ( Midnight Mass ), with Rose McIver ( Ghosts ) and Karen Gillan ( Avengers: Endgame ). Next Exit follows a research scientist who makes headlines proving she can track people after death. Her radical scientific study is looking for volunteers for a pain-free passing to the afterlife and attracts two young misfit strangers who embark on a lengthy road trip into the unknown. Amazon relationships format Modern Love is taking that loving feeling into the Netherlands. A Dutch adaptation will premiere on Prime Video globally this winter. The scripted anthology format, which is based on a popular column from The New York Times, began in the U.S. on Prime Video in 2019 before three Indian language versions and a Japanese remake were announced. The Dutch version, Modern Love Amsterdam , is the first in Europe. Several high-profile Dutch directors and writers have collaborated on the series’ episodes, all off which take place in Amsterdam, in locations such as the city’s iconic train station to Amsterdam-Noord and Zuidoost. Banijay Benelux-owned producer NL Film is attached with Sabine Brian the producer and Robert Alberdingk Thijm as showrunner. Getty Anne Heche 's death came just before the release of her final movie, and the director tells us he's dedicating the film to her. The film is "Wildfire: The Legend of The Cherokee Ghost Horse" ... director Eric Parkinson tells TMZ he's adding an "In Memoriam" as the movie's final shot, right before the final credits. Hannover House Eric tells us Anne was superb in the movie, which started filming back in 2019 before being delayed by the pandemic, and the entire cast and crew are devastated by her death. Anne plays a rodeo trainer in the film, and Eric says during negotiations to hire her for the role, her agent cautioned she was not an experienced rider, so producers decided they needed a stunt double for some barrel racing scenes. Mark Hoffman is stepping down as the longtime head of CNBC in September, and will be succeeded by NBCU executive KC Sullivan. The leadership change, to take place on Sept. 12, will mark the end of Hoffman’s tenure at the network, one of the longest in cable news channel history. Cesar Conde , chairman of the NBCUniversal News Group, said in a statement, “The growth and success of CNBC over so many years is a testament to Mark’s leadership over a nearly three-decade-long career marked by many wins along the way. During his tenure, CNBC became a world leader and every year it has grown better and stronger. Nielsen and Amazon have reached a landmark deal for measuring the viewership of Thursday Night Football , which begins an unprecedented run next month as a streaming exclusive on Prime Video . Beginning next month, pregame, in-game and postgame elements of the broadcast will count toward the rating, both on Prime Video and Twitch. Over-the-air local TV station carriage in both teams’ local markets — guaranteed under longtime NFL rules — and out-of-home viewing will also be added to the metric, enabling it to be a more robust (if not entirely apples-to-apples) figure to compare with Sunday and Monday NFL games. The 3-year pact represents the first time a streaming service will be included in Nielsen’s national TV measurement service, and also a first for a live streaming program. EXCLUSIVE: Disney’s next feature film based on one of its classic theme park rides looks to be getting ready to leave the station as sources tell Deadline Bert & Bertie are in negotiations to direct a pic based on the Big Thunder Mountain attraction at Disney theme parks. LuckyChap Entertainment and Scott Free are producing, with Kieran and Michele Mulroney writing the script. A mine cart ride set in a mining town where gold is discovered, the original Big Thunder Mountain opened in 1979 in Disneyland in Anaheim, with another version opening soon after at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando. It is one of the more recognizable coasters in all of Disney’s parks, also appearing in the Tokyo and Paris locations. The film written by Leon Chills and Carnahan centers on Kyrah (Washington) and Isaac (Sy), who were once the leaders of a multinational special forces group called Shadow Force. They broke the rules by falling in love, and in order to protect their son, they go underground. Sources tell Deadline that Apple has landed The Family Plan , an action-comedy feature from Skydance starring Mark Wahlberg , with Simon Cellan Jones directing. The film will reunite Wahlberg with Jones following their collaboration on the upcoming Arthur the King. Written by David Coggeshall, The Family Plan tells the story of a suburban dad who must take his family on the run when his past catches up to him. Bonnie Pointer -- a founding member of the famous Pointer Sisters singing group -- was arrested early this morning in Los Angeles for possession of a controlled substance ... TMZ has learned. According to law enforcement, 61-year-old Pointer was busted for felony possession of a controlled substance at 12:39 AM and hauled to a nearby station-- where she was booked and held on $10,000 bail. Pointer was released from custody around 4:30 AM. The Pointer Sisters were HUGE in the '70s and '80s -- churning out hits like "Slow Hand" and "Neutron Dance." TMZ shot footage of Bonnie in L.A. last weekend -- in which the singer revealed her sister Anita is fighting cancer.
