But unfortunately, the Beeb’s top brass are prone to making bonkers decisions — and they made another one. Their BBC2 show The Big Family Cooking Showdown — a total flop in its first series — is set to be even worse after they announced they have replaced its two biggest names, Nadiya Hussain and Zoe Ball, with C-list presenter Angellica Bell and relatively unknown chef Tommy Banks. The first series, which had Rosemary Shrager and Giorgio Locatelli as judges, was a huge disappointment, with one episode getting just over a million viewers. It was even moved from Tuesdays to Thursdays to avoid a clash with Great British Bake Off on Channel 4 — which had 6.5million viewers for the first show in its new home. Nadiya Hussain has quit The Big Family Cooking Showdown after just one series, with Angellica Bell and Tommy Banks confirmed as the newest additions to the line-up. The former Great British Bake Off champion rose to fame on the then-BBC show and delighted fans when she teamed up with Zoe Ball to front a new cookery competition on BBC Two last year. However, Hussain has decided to leave the Big Family Cooking Showdown to focus on her own cooking and her new series Nadiya’s Family Favourites. NADIYA Hussain has quit the Big Family Cooking Showdown after just one series. The Bake Off champ has decided to walk away from the show to launch her own cookery programme. Nadiya, 33, who won the Great British Bake Off in 2015, made her debut as a host on the BBC series last year appearing alongside Zoe Ball. However, the baking expert will not return for season two as she wants to focus on launching her own TV project.
