EXCLUSIVE : Matthew Goldberg has joined the bicoastal production company Nickel City Pictures as Vice President of Film and Television. In the new role, he will report to President Mark Fasano and oversee development of the company’s slate, which is focused on commercial film and television content across all genres. Melissa Benoist Renews Overall Deal With Warner Bros. TV As She Officially Boards ‘The Girls On The Bus’
Melissa Benoist and her production banner Three Things Productions has renewed its overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group as the former Supergirl star officially joins HBO Max series The Girls on the Bus . Deadline revealed in February that Benoist was in talks to reunite with Berlanti Productions for the political campaign drama series. It’s confirmed that she will star as Sadie McCarthy, a journalist who romanticizes Tim Crouse’s Boys on the Bus book and who scrapped her whole life for her own shot at covering a presidential campaign for the paper of record. Sadie hits the trail and eventually bonds with three female competitors. Nick Nemeroff Dies: Canadian Comedian Was 32
Canadian-born comedian Nick Nemeroff passed away suddenly on Monday at age 32. His family and agency announced the news late Monday. No cause of death has been given. Nemeroff, who made appearances on Conan and performed at Just for Laughs in Montreal, was a Juno Award nominee in 2021 for his comedy album, The Pursuit of Comedy Has Ruined My Life . He was also part of CBC Gem’s The New Wave of Standup , and was most recently seen on CTV Comedy’s Roast Battle Canada . Raised in Montreal-West, Nemeroff attended the Royal West Academy and went on to graduate from the Radio and Television program at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson). NATPE Moving Flagship Event From Miami To The Bahamas From 2023
The National Association of Television Program Executives ( NATPE ) is moving its flagship January event from its long-time home in Miami 180 miles across the water to a new base in Nassau in the Bahamas . The plan, which many international execs have been aware of for several months, takes NATPE to the Bahamas Mar Resort and Conference Center from next year’s event, which takes place on January 17-19. This marks the first time NATPE will not take place on American soil. The Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami has been NATPE’s home since 2011, though the previous two editions have been held online due to the Covid pandemic. Prior to that it was held in Las Vegas and further back in cities such as New Orleans, LA, New York, Houston and San Francisco. Claws executive producer/showrunner Janine Sherman Barrois has signed a new, exclusive multi-year overall deal with Warner Bros. Television. Under the pact, Sherman Barrois will continue to run Claws , produced by WBTV’s Warner Horizon Scripted Television, as well as develop new projects for the studio. Sherman Barrois boarded Claws in the pilot stage under her previous overall deal at WBTV. The Florida nail salon dramedy, starring Niecy Nash and Carrie Preston, was a breakout for TNT, ranking as its highest rated series in the adults 18-49 demographic. Season 2 premieres June 10.
