EXCLUSIVE : The first new A24 project to emerge since the studio’s record-breaking Oscar haul last week is international TV series Young Mungo , which is being adapted by Scottish-American author Douglas Stuart from his acclaimed novel. The series, about the dangerous first love of two working class men in Glasgow, is being shepherded by A24’s international heads Piers Wenger and Rose Garnett, and marks a coup for the pair given the stellar reviews and buzz around its author. Published last year, Young Mungo is the second novel from Stuart after Booker prize-winner Shuggie Bain , which Euphoria and Everything Everywhere All At Once producer A24 is currently making into a series with the BBC. EXCLUSIVE: Tyrese Gibson ( The Fast and Furious franchise) and Harvey Keitel ( Reservoir Dogs ) have signed on to star in the action thriller The Wrecker . The pic is currently shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. Filmmaker Art Camacho is directing from an original screenplay by Niko Foster, who also stars in the pic. The film’s plot follows a dishonorably discharged ex-marine named Tony, now turned car mechanic, whose life takes an unexpected turn when his reckless brother makes a bad decision gaining the unwanted attention of a notorious crime boss. Foster produces for Chasing Butterflies Pictures alongside Al Bravo for Al Bravo Films. Additional producers include Colin Bates, Eduard Osipov, Michael Pizzimenti, and Hemdee Kiwanuka. Ciarán Hinds , Rory Kinnear and Tanya Moodie have joined the Season 2 cast of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in recurring roles. Developed by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, The Lord of the Rings series, which is currently in production in the UK, is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth — thousands of years before the events of the Lord of the Rings films and the novels by JRR Tolkien. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. No character descriptions have been revealed. EXCLUSIVE: Kat Conner Sterling has been cast in Blumhouse ’s film adaptation of the popular video game Five Nights at Freddy’s . Cameras are rolling on the film in New Orleans. As previously announced, Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard and Mary Stuart Masterson also have been cast in the film, which is being directed by Emma Tammi ( The Wind , Blood Moon ). Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is working alongside Blumhouse to bring the game’s animatronics to life. Five Nights at Freddy’s follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through. The film was written by Scott Cawthon, Tammi and Seth Cuddeback and is being produced by Blumhouse in association with Striker Entertainment. Scott Cawthon and Jason Blum are producers. Devo , the rock band best known for 1980 hit “Whip It,” is getting the documentary treatment. The project marks the first authorized documentary about the band, which featured the classic lineup of Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh, Gerald and Bob Casales and Alan Myers. Chris Smith, who directed Netflix’s Fyre , about the troubled Fyre Festival, and Tiger King, will helm the doc. Devo comes from BMG, Fremantle Documentaries, and Warner Music Entertainment with Vice Studios and Library Films producing in association with Mutato Entertainment. The doc, which is currently in production, tells the story of the band that formed in Akron, Ohio in 1973, in the wake of the Kent State massacre. It will feature a mix of archival footage and interviews from other characters in their orbit. EXCLUSIVE: Elizabeth Lail has joined the cast of Blumhouse ’s feature take of videogame Five Nights at Freddy’s , which is currently shooting in New Orleans. Lail can currently be seen in the comedy film Mack & Rita opposite Diane Keaton and Taylour Paige.  She also recently wrapped the film Gonzo Girl directed by Patricia Arquette and starring Willem Dafoe based on the Cheryl Della Pietra novel. Lail is best known for her lead role of Beck in Netflix’s smash hit You and recently starred as Jenny in NBC’s drama series Ordinary Joe . She also starred in STX Entertainment’s terrifying horror film, Countdown , the independent film Unintended , and had a recurring role in the HBO Max reboot of Gossip Girl . This morning’s Tony Award nominations favored the familiar, with Mean Girls and SpongeBob SquarePants leading the field with 12 nods apiece. The American debut of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child paced new plays with 10 nominations, and the revival of Angels in America had a strong showing with 11 nominations, most in Tony history for a play.
