It looks like HBO Max are expanding their podcast platform with a new scripted series of Batman: The Audio Adventures , bringing the Dark Knight to the world of Podcasts for a second time. Not only that, but Jeffrey Wright will be continuing his HBO and Batman journeys by playing Batman in the new venture, which is a jump from his live-action role of Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming The Batman movie, in which he stars with Robert Pattinson next year.The Batman podcast series will also feature Rosario Dawson as Catwoman, and John Leguizamo as The Riddler and will be exclusively aired on HBO Max in the fall. The show was one of four titles with more than 1 billion total minutes of viewing during the week of July 5 to 11. Virgin River , a Netflix original whose third season debuted July 9, finished second, ahead of Amazon Prime Video’s Chris Pratt movie The Tomorrow War and Marvel series Loki on Disney+. The outlook dimmed for Manifest , a missing-plane drama with sci-fi and supernatural elements, when Netflix passed on a fourth-season renewal last month. Trey Parker and Matt Stone , co-creators of South Park , have signed a sweeping renewal with ViacomCBS that will keep the show on Comedy Central through 2027 and send 14 original movies to Paramount+. The official announcement of the deal did not specify a dollar figure but multiple press reports pegged it at $900 million, one of the richest ever. Star Wars is getting a LEGO Halloween special just in time for the spooky holiday this year. On Oct. 1, the new special LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales will be released exclusively on the streaming service Disney+, continuing the collaboration between Lucasfilm and the LEGO Group. The free streaming service’s parent company, ViacomCBS , confirmed the annual revenue milestone during its second-quarter earnings call with analysts. CEO Bob Bakish had previously signaled the billion-dollar mark would be hit in 2022. Viacom acquired Pluto for $340 million in cash in January 2019, months before reuniting with CBS. “The power of Pluto TV is unquestionable,” Bakish said on the call, saying it will “comfortably” hit the $1 billion threshold this year.
