Rashtra Kavach: OM Movie Review: Aditya Roy Kapur-Sanjana Sanghi’s Actioner Turns Out To Be A Decoy
Rating: 1.5 /5 Star Cast: Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjana Sanghi, Jackie Shroff, Prachee Shah Paandya, Prakash Raj Director: Kapil Verma The bullets in Rashtra Kavach: OM are as redundant as the film's plot. One of them pierces the hero's brain but voila, he is only down with amnesia. Another one hits a character on her shoulder and she is found to be perfectly standing besides the hero in the next frame. No wonder, the villain instructs his boys to hit the main protagonist with guns rather than using them to shoot him! "I am not sure about death Sir, but I am death sure about Om," Jai Rathore (Ashutosh Rana) tells his senior in one of the scenes in the film. Well, we agree with him after a full-blown assault on our senses for around two hours and fifteen minutes. What's Yay: Aditya Roy Kapur's perfectly-chiselled abs, an action scene or two What's Nay: Story, direction Story Rashtra Kavach: OM begins with a covert operation on a … [Read more...] about Rashtra Kavach: OM Movie Review: Aditya Roy Kapur-Sanjana Sanghi’s Actioner Turns Out To Be A Decoy
With An Eye Toward International Audiences, ‘The Grinch’ Directors Seek The Essence Of A Seussian World
Avid fans of the Dr. Seuss canon that were excited to bring one of the author’s most well-known characters to life in a new animated iteration, Scott Mosier and Yarrow Cheney set out on a long process of trial and error, seeking to bring a freshness to The Grinch . The third adaptation of a classic 1957 children’s book, Illumination Entertainment ’s latest would place Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of the iconic green curmudgeon, setting out to ruin Christmas for those pesky Whos of Whoville once and for all. Making his feature debut alongside veteran Cheney, Mosier had produced a 3D animated film in 2013— Free Birds , starring Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson—getting a “crash course” in the form. So, when it came to The Grinch , the challenge wasn’t learning the ropes—it was taking a pre-existing world and fleshing its 60-something pages out, playing with story, character and world design where possible, while delivering fans a faithful adaptation of the story they … [Read more...] about With An Eye Toward International Audiences, ‘The Grinch’ Directors Seek The Essence Of A Seussian World
Yes, Homelander on ‘The Boys’ Is Supposed to Be Donald Trump
In any other cultural moment, the satire embedded in Amazon Prime’s endlessly entertaining, blood-spattered superhero show The Boys might seem heavy-handed. But in 2022, its near-nihilist depiction of a deluded public rooting for an all-powerful class of elites who couldn’t care less about them almost feels like a documentary, albeit with superpowers, eviscerations, and really weird sex stuff thrown in. In the show (based on, and vastly improving, an indie comic series co-created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson) , the sinister Vought International dominates both pop culture and the wider world with actual, real-life superheroes (almost none of whom are actually heroic), created with a power-generating serum known as V. The titular Boys are a group of powerless supe-haters, led by William Butcher (Karl Urban), fighting against grim odds to take the “heroes” down. In Season Three, with new episodes currently streaming on Fridays, the most terrifying of the supes … [Read more...] about Yes, Homelander on ‘The Boys’ Is Supposed to Be Donald Trump
