Fans of Party Down , the Starz cult hit that last aired almost 10 years ago, got news they have long been hoping to hear: a show reunion may happen in the not too distant future. “I’m thinking the next year or two we’ll explore a way to get the gang back together again,” co-creator and producer Dan Etheridge revealed toward the end of a Party Down panel discussion Sunday at Vulture Festival LA. The full cast was on hand for the event, including actress Megan Mullally, who joined Party Down in the show’s second season. “I want to do it again,” she insisted. “Can’t we do the show again?” She called performing on the show the most fun she’s had as an actor, a sentiment echoed by other cast members. Fox Boss Lachlan Murdoch On NFL Talks, Fox News And Life After Covid: “It’s A Good Year Not To Own Movie Studios And Theme Parks”
About two years after Fox Corp. started a new chapter as a slimmed-down, TV-centric company, CEO Lachlan Murdoch observed, “It’s a good year not to own movie studios and theme parks.” In a rare appearance at a Wall Street conference, the executive weighed in on NFL negotiations, the outlook for Fox News , ad-supported streaming and other topics. Covid-19 has also posed a number of challenges to Fox, even though it doesn’t have movie or parks assets, with advertising and sports taking a dive last spring before recovering. Talks with the NFL talks have “a ways to go,” Murdoch cautioned during an online session at Morgan Stanley’s annual Technology, Media & Telecom conference. Participants have signaled the league and its media partners could take the wraps off deal announcements as soon as next week. “The most likely scenario” would be for Fox to ditch Thursday Night Football , which it acquired in 2019 for $650 million a year in a five-year pact. That would leave the … [Read more...] about Fox Boss Lachlan Murdoch On NFL Talks, Fox News And Life After Covid: “It’s A Good Year Not To Own Movie Studios And Theme Parks”
CAA “Greed” Is At True Heart Of New $10M ‘Walking Dead’ Suit Declares AMC – Update
(UPDATE with AMC statement) Over four years after former The Walking Dead showrunner Frank Darabont and CAA first took AMC to court in a more than $280 million profit participation action, the duo hit the cabler again today with a new $10 million suit. Facebook To End Ban On Political Advertising March 4
Facebook announced plans to resume political, electoral and social issue ads in the U.S. tomorrow, March 4, ending a temporary ban it put in place after the November 2020 — to avoid confusion and abuse amid claims by former President Donald Trump and his supporters that the election had been stolen. The ad ban was a bit of a reversal by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who has in the past has hewn to a hands-off position on content and political advertising , which is considered speech, unless there is the risk of imminent danger. But a lot changed with the unprecedented misinformation that proliferated on social media around the last election and the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6. “Unlike other platforms, we require authorization and transparency not just for political and electoral ads, but also for social issue ads, and our systems do not distinguish between these categories. We’ve heard a lot of feedback about this and learned more about political and … [Read more...] about Facebook To End Ban On Political Advertising March 4
Senate Advances $1.9 Trillion Covid-19 Relief Bill; Kamala Harris Casts Tie-Breaking Vote To Start Debate
The Senate voted to advance a $1.9 trillion Covid-19 relief bill, which includes direct payments to families and extends enhanced unemployment benefits, but it could be a long slog before there is a final vote. The vote was 51-50, with Vice President Kamala Harris voting in favor to break a tie. The Senate, though, is in for a marathon of a session. In an effort to delay passage of the legislation, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) insisted that the 628-page bill be read in its entirety, a process that may take up to 10 hours. Then the Senate faces a process where members can offer amendments for a vote, a lengthy proceeding known as “vote-a-rama.” NEW: Senate votes 51-50 to proceed on the $1.9T Covid relief bill, with VP Harris breaking the tie, officially starting consideration of the bill. pic.twitter.com/2dqoOA8HbG — NBC News (@NBCNews) March 4, 2021 The House last week passed the legislation i n a narrow 219-212 vote, with no Republicans in support … [Read more...] about Senate Advances $1.9 Trillion Covid-19 Relief Bill; Kamala Harris Casts Tie-Breaking Vote To Start Debate
