‘Soul’ Wins Golden Globe For Best Original Score: Trent Reznor Happy For First Kid-Friendly Project

UPDATE, with video Disney Pixar’s animated Soul took the Golden Globe Award for best original score tonight, with co-composer Jon Batiste telling viewers we “only have one life to live and one soul, and this soul is happy today.” Despite presenter Tracy Morgan’s odd misreading of the title – it came out sounding something like “Sowl” – Batiste’s apparently pre-taped acceptance speech hit the screen immediately. His thank-yous were then followed by co-composer Trent Reznor , the Nine Inch Nails frontman turned movie music writer, who thanked Disney Pixar for providing him with “the first piece of art I’ve ever made in my life that I can show to my kids.” Soul ‘s third composer, Atticus Ross , thanked his wife Claudia and their children. Jodie Foster Picks Up Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe Win For ‘The Mauritanian’: “I Just Never Expected To Ever Be Here Again”

Jodie Foster is adding another Golden Globe statuette to her collection. The actress nabbed her third Golden Globe win for Best Supporting Actress In A Motion Picture for her performance in the legal drama, The Mauritanian at tonight’s ceremony. “I think you made a mistake. I’m a little speechless. I just never expected to ever be here again,” Foster remarked before thanking her “amazing filmmakers.” Foster won for her role as attorney Nancy Hollander, who fights for the freedom of Mohamedou Ould Slahi, a young man who was unjustly jailed by the U.S. for 14 years in Guantanamo Bay for being a 9/11 plot suspect. Sacha Baron Cohen came out hot at the start of his acceptance speech for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm ‘s win at the Golden Globes for Best Comedy or Musical. “Thank you to the all-white Hollywood Foreign Press,” he began, a shot at the group’s lack of any Black members, a fact that has been excoriated in the industry and beyond in recent days. He also saluted “co-star” Rudy Giuliani , without whom “this film could not have been possible.” The attorney for former president Donald Trump “came from nowhere and turned out to be a comedy genius.” (Giuliani famously put his hands in his pants in a hotel room during a scene with Maria Bakalova, who plays the 15-year-old daughter of Borat. UPDATED with acceptance speech: Emma Corrin thanked Princess Diana for “teaching me compassion” as she accepted the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV drama for her star turn in the fourth season of Left Bank Pictures/Netflix series The Crown . An emotional Corrin — “Incredible!, “Whaat?” — also thanked “everyone for believing in me” including “my Prince Charming Josh,” referring to Josh O’Connor” as Prince Charles, who, as it happens, took home the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama.
