Pete Davidson has taken to Instagram to reflect on his imminent departure from Saturday Night Live . While Davidson does not have an account on the social media platform, he posted a long and emotional message via the account of Dave Sirus, who writes for the show and also worked on his 2020 film, The King of Staten Island . His words accompany a video of him celebrating wrap of production on his first episode of SNL with fellow comic Jerrod Carmichael. “This video was taken 8 years ago. Jerrod sent it to me last night and it made me super emotional in the best way,” said Davidson up top. “In the video I had just gotten back from doing my very first update and sketch. It’s crazy to think that today I’ll be doing my last one.” Davidson said that when he first joined the show in 2014, at the age of 20, he admittedly had “no idea” what he was doing. “I still don’t,” he joked, “but especially back then.” Davidson came to the show as a stand-up comic, rather than a … [Read more...] about Pete Davidson Addresses ‘SNL’ Exit In Emotional Message Prior To Airing Of Season 47 Finale

‘SNL’ Starts Generational Shift With Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson & Kyle Mooney Sendoff In Season Finale
Saturday Night Live bid farewell to four veteran cast members tonigh t, Kate McKinnon , Aidy Bryant , Pete Davidson and Kyle Mooney . McKinnon, Bryant and Davidson, who have all become household names since SNL launched their careers, all got individual sendoffs with some of their most popular recurring skits. Mooney, who has spent most of his time on the show as a valuable but underrated performer, made an understated — yet dramatic — exit. Overall, the episode, hosted by Natasha Lyonne, was a throwback to a time when longtime SNL cast members used to receive proper sendoffs in the season finale capping their runs. The last big one came during the 2012 season finale, with host and musical guest Mick Jagger. It said goodbye to Jason Sudeikis, Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig who had completed seven-year tenures. The episode famously ended with Jagger leading a dancing sendoff for Wiig to the Rolling Stones’ “She’s a Rainbow” and “Ruby Tuesday.” McKinnon, … [Read more...] about ‘SNL’ Starts Generational Shift With Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson & Kyle Mooney Sendoff In Season Finale

HBO in Talks to Adapt Martin Scorsese’s ‘Shutter Island’ Into Series
HBO will likely pick up a TV adaptation of Martin Scorsese ‘s 2010 psychological thriller, Shutter Island , tentatively titled Ashecliffe , Deadline reports. The premium cable network is still in talks with Paramount Television, but if the deal goes through, Scorsese will likely direct the pilot based on a script by Dennis Lehane, who wrote the original 2003 novel. The series will center around the Ashecliffe mental institution, which Leonardo DiCaprio’s character, U.S. Marshal Edward “Teddy” Daniels, investigates in the film. The show, however, will be set in the years before the film takes place, and will delve into the secrets of the hospital’s founders and the disturbing methods of treatment they used to treat their patients. Ashecliffe was reportedly the brain child of Paramount TV chief, Amy Powell. Falklands War Drama Series In Works From UK & Argentinian Creative Team, Paul Telegdy, Lone Wolf & Infinity Hill
The Islands , a 10-episode drama series, is in the works from BBC alum Stephen McDonogh’s Lone Wolf Pictures, Axel Kuschevatzky, Phin Glynn and Cindy Teperman’s Infinity Hill as well as The Whole Spiel, the company launched last year by former NBC Entertainment Chairman Paul Telegdy and his cousin, Stefan Telegdy. The series, which is being shopped to networks and streamers, tells the story of the Falklands-Malvinas War of 1982 from the point of view of the people who were there and with the involvement of writers and filmmakers from both UK and Argentina. Writing is already underway, with Argentine film and TV writer Sebastian Rotstein ( El Presidente Season 2, Morir de Amor ) on board. The Islands is not a story of failed diplomacy or geo-politics — an angle recently explored on The Crown — but rather an epic portrayal of the brutal realities they brought to a group of extraordinary human beings in a geography that is as bafflingly remote as it is … [Read more...] about Falklands War Drama Series In Works From UK & Argentinian Creative Team, Paul Telegdy, Lone Wolf & Infinity Hill
Snail Mail Channels Nineties Alt-Rock Vibes With ‘Glory’ on ‘Fallon’
Snail Mail , the project of singer-songwriter Lindsey Jordan, brought her unique brand of emotive indie rock to The Tonight Show Friday, performing the song “Glory” off her critically acclaimed sophomore LP, Valentine . Backed by her band, Jordan displayed her guitar chops as she ran through the song, which documents a feeling of helplessness while trapped in a codependent relationship. “You owe me/You own me,” she sings. “I could never hurt you, my love/You know me.” The New York-based singer dropped Valentine — which Rolling Stone called an album filled with “amped-up pop choruses, refined sense of melody, and hints of everything from Blood Orange-inspired R&B to vintage mid-century torch balladry” — late last year. It was accompanied by a slew of singles, including title track “ Valentine ,” the vulnerable dancefloor-ready “ Ben Franklin ,” and the breezy breakup anthem “Madonna.” “On Valentine , there’s a good amount of real experienced loss and adult … [Read more...] about Snail Mail Channels Nineties Alt-Rock Vibes With ‘Glory’ on ‘Fallon’
