EXCLUSIVE: A spinoff of the hit drama series Snowfall is in early stages of development at FX , sources tell Deadline. No one would comment but we hear that, if it comes to fruition, the offshoot would potentially star Gail Bean reprising her fan-favorite Snowfall character, Wanda. The spinoff is a continuation of the original story set in 1990s Los Angeles as South Central transitions out of the crack era into the gangster rap business, with areas heavily infested by gangs led by the Bloods and Crips. Wanda would serve as the connective tissue between the original show and the offshoot, which is expected to introduce other main characters, sources tell Deadline. It is as yet unknown if any other characters from the original could also appear in the new show. Malcolm Spellman will serve as executive producer and writer of the pilot. Netflix has greenlit the new 2D animated series Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld from first-time showrunner Echo Wu and executive producers Ali Wong ( Beef ) and Aron Eli Coleite ( Locke & Key ). Wong will also star in the supernatural action series alongside Bowen Yang , Lori Tan Chinn , Lucy Liu , Jimmy O. Yang , Sheng Wang , and Woosung Kim . The series follows Jentry Chau (voiced by Wong), a Chinese-American teen living in a small Texas town, who finds out a demon king is hunting her for the supernatural powers she’s been working her whole life to repress. With the help of her weapons expert great-aunt and a millennia-old jiangshi (Chinese hopping vampire), Jentry must now fight an entire underworld’s worth of monsters while balancing the horrors of high school. EXCLUSIVE : A hot project just got hotter. Emmy-nominated Korean actress and model Hoyeon , who made waves with Netflix’s Squid Game , is set to make her feature debut in director Na Hong-Jin ’s Korean thriller Hope , which we revealed earlier today . She joins Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender. This is the first project from acclaimed Korean director Na since 2016 hit The Wailing , and it’ll mark Hoyeon’s first starring role in a Korean project since she made her screen debut in Squid Game . The largely Korean-language film will follow the residents of Hopo Port, where a mysterious discovery is made on the outskirts of the remote harbor town. Marquise "Hollywood" Brown has finally put his speeding case in the rearview mirror ... TMZ Sports has learned he was sentenced in an Arizona courtroom on Wednesday. A judge ordered the NFL star to pay a fine of $473 -- after he pled guilty in February to a misdemeanor charge of excessive speed stemming from an August 2022 arrest. But, Brown won't have to dole out a cent in the case ... the judge decided to waive the fine and just give him credit for time served. Brown, wearing a letterman jacket and dark-colored pants, said very little during the hearing, only telling the judge, "This is my first time ever getting into anything." During the proceedings, Brown's attorney argued the 25-year-old should be allowed to complete a defensive driving school program to get the case off his record ... though the judge did not allow that.
