J.J. Abrams has sent his first tweet as he heads back to a galaxy far, far away. The filmmaker penned a message honoring the late Carrie Fisher, and shared the first photo from the Star Wars: Episode IX set Wednesday. "Bittersweet starting this next chapter without Carrie, but thanks to an extraordinary cast and crew, we are ready to go," he wrote. "Grateful for @rianjohnson and special thanks to George Lucas for creating this incredible world and beginning a story of which we are lucky to be a part. #IX." Last week, Lucasfilm unveiled it's full cast for Star Wars: Episode IX and also revealed that Fisher would appear, via unused footage from 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie [Lourd], we have found a way … [Read more...] about J.J. Great news from a galaxy far far away. By Evan Saathoff Jul. 27, 2018 There are many things about Star Wars Episode IX that felt safe to assume. Mostly the return of Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac. And then there were things that we just couldn’t tell. One of those things was the return of Carrie Fisher. That may seem obvious to some, but for me, I wasn’t sure they’d go there with him. But hey, why not? Then there are some new cast members, the previously reported Keri Russell is not included in the list but Naomi Ackie and my man Richard E. Grant will show up. Look, I’m not super optimistic about JJ Abrams being able to end something. He’s good with … [Read more...] about STAR WARS IX: Carrie Fisher And Mark Hamill BOTH Returning
News from the Star Wars universe is that one of the final characters left over from the original saga is set to make an appearance in the final film of the newest trilogy. Chatter about Williams joining the production, which is set to begin later this summer, increased in recent days when the actor bowed out of an upcoming sci-fi and pop culture convention citing a conflict with a movie schedule. Sources confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Williams will indeed be returning to the Star Wars film franchise for the first time since 1983’s Return of the Jedi. The Lando Calrissian character made his suave debut in 1980's Empire Strikes Back. Williams has been constantly in touch with the Star Wars franchise since the original saga. He has lent his silky smooth vocals to the cartoons and video games where Lando makes an … [Read more...] about STAR WARS IX: Lando is Back, Billy Dee Williams to Return to STAR WARS
