Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures is the latest adorable way that Star Wars has been trying to market itself to younger kids who might not have the attention span to sit through a lengthy Star Wars flick itself. One of the most recent ones features Leia, in all her glory, fighting off stormtroopers as she escapes from the Death Star with Luke and Han. It’s epic, adorable, and definitely angering the men who think Star Wars is now emasculating their heroes. Check out the short below. As you can see, it’s mostly what happens in the movie—Leia takes charge of her own rescue. There’s some added humor with Luke, a farmboy who’s never really fought with a blaster or staged an escape from a fascist organization, struggling a little, but that makes sense. It’s supposed to be a funny short for kids centered on Leia being a badass, which she very much is, canonically. Of course, because this is a Star Wars project that features women in power and kicking ass, … [Read more...] about We’re Loving This Star Wars Short That Makes Leia Even More of a Badass

x Despite both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi receiving critical adulation and record-breaking success at the box office, they also each came with their fair share of controversy amongst fans. The Force Awakens was widely criticized for following too closely in the footsteps of A New Hope (particularly with the Starkiller Base climax) and as for The Last Jedi? Well, I thought it was great, but if we get into the controversy surrounding that film we’ll be here all day. All of which makes Adam Driver’s comments about Star Wars: Episode IX in an interview with Deadline pretty telling. The Kylo Ren star was asked about his ‘marathon journey’ with the Sequel Trilogy and here’s what he had to say about it: In the plays that I’ve done, a six-month run, on the very last day, you finally feel like, “Oh, now I have a better understanding of what it is that I want to do. I wish we could do this all over … [Read more...] about Adam Driver Says That Star Wars: Episode IX Is Their Last Chance To Get It Right
We’re less than a year away from the hotly anticipated Star Wars Episode IX, and naturally, the speculation game is still going strong. How will the Resistance defeat the First Order? What will Rey’s lightsaber look like? How will they handle Leia’s final appearance? Too many questions need answering, and we won’t get a peep out of anyone until that December release date rolls around. One cast member, our Kylo Ren, has been sitting on a secret about his character for six years now—since before his debut in The Force Awakens. In a recent interview with Deadline, Adam Driver said of wrapping the series, “With Girls, there wasn’t really an end in sight, so it was fun to develop it as I went, and to think about where it was all going. With Star Wars, I had one piece of information of where it was all going, and that’s where it has been in my head for a long time, and things were building towards that.” Naturally, … [Read more...] about So What’s the Big Star Wars Secret Adam Driver Has Been Keeping for Six Years?
x The fans currently have a lot of questions around the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX that Adam Driver has so far done a pretty good job of not answering. Indeed, the actor’s comments have rarely gone beyond the vague tease that Lucasfilm is “working toward something in particular” with the character of Kylo Ren, and going by the star’s recent comments to Deadline, Driver has been harboring the secret of his arc’s conclusion for quite some time. Reflecting on his lengthy journey as the main villain of the Sequel Trilogy, the actor drew a comparison with his run in HBO’s Girls to suggest that he’s known for years where Kylo’s story is all headed: “With Girls, there wasn’t really an end in sight, so it was fun to develop it as I went, and to think about where it was all going. With Star Wars, I had one piece of information of where it was all going, and that’s where it has been in my head for a long time, and things … [Read more...] about Adam Driver Has Known Kylo Ren’s Fate In Star Wars: Episode IX For Years
x When they announced the cast list for Star Wars: Episode IX, most people zeroed in on the surprising revelation that Carrie Fisher would be reprising her role as Princess Leia from beyond the grave. However, tucked away in there was a mention that Richard E. Grant would be joining the cast, which for me was incredibly promising news. From his iconic role as Withnail in Withnail and I right the way through to his villainous turn in Logan, Grant’s a reliably magnetic presence. But who’s he playing in Episode IX? Well, I’d assumed he’d make an excellent First Order officer, but a more concrete hint may have come in a recent interview on the Graham Norton Show, where he said the following: “Yes, I am in the last Star Wars. I have no idea [if I’ll be recognisable] because I’ve not even been allowed to tell my family what the name of my character is. If I told you I would get fired. We’re not even allowed to … [Read more...] about Richard E. Grant Says Episode IX Will Be The Last Star Wars Movie
