CAA has promoted Chris Burrus , Inder Gill , Sophie Kavanagh , Zakaria Laaboudi , Arlen Papazian and Kara Petit to Agent following the participation of each in CAA Elevate, the agency’s program for agents and executives in training. The Nashville-based Burrus will work within CAA’s Music Touring department. He represents many of the world’s leading musicians, including Nate Smith, Tyler Booth, Erin Kinsey and After Midtown, and is on the teams that support Jake Owen, Matt Koziol and Brandon Ratcliff. Gill will serve on the Media Finance team, led by Roeg Sutherland and Benjamin Kramer, specializing in the representation of independently financed films. He was one of the lead agents helping to sign Anupam Tripathi, who played Ali Abdul in Netflix’s South Korean smash Squid Game , and is based in Los Angeles. ABC’s General Hospital — already the winningest sudser in daytime history – was named Outstanding Daytime Drama on Friday while The Kelly Clarkson Show took home the prize for Outstanding Talk Show at the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. The ceremony aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. Jeopardy! won Best Game Show with new hosts Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings, while Mishael Morgan made history by becoming the first Black woman to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama for her work on The Young and the Restless. The in-person ceremony at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium opened with a not-so-subtle reference to Friday’s Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade. O’Riain is the latest senior programming executive to leave the TNets following the Discovery-WarnerMedia merger as WarnerMedia’s ad-supported entertainment linear networks became one of the first cost-saving targets for the new regime. The Rolling Stones resumed their 60th anniversary tour in Milan, Italy Tuesday night after being forced to postpone two gigs last week when Mick Jagger came down with Covid, but they took the stage without backup singer Sasha Allen. In her place was Chanel Haynes, a veteran gospel singer that recently portrayed Tina Turner in the UK production of Tina – The Tina Turner Musical. Rolling Stones superfan Matt Lee was in his standard spot near the front of the stage, and he captured a stellar video of “Gimme Shelter” where Haynes showed off her amazing pipes after presumably a minimal rehearsal period. “Take a bow,” Jagger said at the conclusion of the song. “Chanel Haynes, everybody! Moses Ingram , fresh from starring in Disney+’s Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi , has joined the Apple TV+ and Endeavor Content limited series Lady in the Lake . Ingram, who scored an Emmy nomination for her role in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, will star alongside Natalie Portman in the series, which comes from Alma Har’el. She plays Cleo Sherwood in a role that was previously held by Lupita Nyong’o, who exited earlier this year . The series, which is currently in production, is based on Laura Lippman’s New York Times bestselling novel. It takes place in ’60s Baltimore, where an unsolved murder pushes housewife and mother Maddie Schwartz (Portman) to reinvent her life as an investigative journalist and sets her on a collision course with Ingram’s Sherwood, a hardworking woman juggling motherhood, many jobs and a passionate commitment to advancing Baltimore’s Black progressive agenda. The 2022 Daytime Emmy Awards are set to be handed out Friday in a two-hour telecast hosted by Entertainment Tonight duo Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner that will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ at 6 p.m. ET/PT. The ceremony takes place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, with the show in-person again after being virtual the past two years. The Daytime Emmys’ Creative Arts and Lifestyle ceremony took place last week, setting the stage for Friday’s main event.
