So, I started with the basic questions that everyone should start with: Who are you and what do you want to say? Online, that is. These are basic but important questions to ask because everything and anything you post online could follow you — and even 10 years from now might still be searchable. Some companies use what is called a Q value to establish general audience sentiment, a score that includes how many followers you have, how engaged your audience is and if there is a general appeal from said audience. Viacom ’s Bob Bakish has one of the toughest jobs in media today as the company board officially took the word “acting” off the CEO title he picked up last month when he became the third person to have the gig in the past four months. The decision follows Sumner and Shari Redstone ’s announcement this morning that they want to scuttle the plan they’d proposed to merge Viacom with CBS — likely putting its CEO Les Moonves in charge of a combined company. Mary Daily has been named President of International Theatrical Marketing and Worldwide Home Media Entertainment replacing, in part, Nic Crawley who exited and went to the H Collective CEO job. The former Fox executive has a dual reporting structure to Megan Colligan, president of worldwide marketing and distribution and for home entertainment to COO Andrew Gumpert. She will start in her new post on Monday. In her position for theatrical marketing, she will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of all marketing and advertising strategies for the studio. CW chief Mark Pedowitz tried to put some context around an upcoming ownership shift of the network. It’s not a typical corporate deal, he said, because the CW is an important brand, and a well entrenched one. “You may have heard the CW is undergoing a bit of a transition of its own. But we’ve become more than just a network, more than just a media company. We are a brand. A brand that has a had a major impact in a very short time,” he told ad buyers at the company’s upfront presentation in NYC Thursday. CW owners Warner Bros. Lil Keed , an Atlanta rapper signed to Young Thug ’s YSL Records, has died at the age of 24. His brother Lil Gotit first announced on social media that the rapper born Raqhid Render had died. Lil Keed’s rep also confirmed the death to Complex. A court here in Maharashtra on Sunday remanded Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale in police custody till May 18 following her arrest for allegedly sharing an objectionable post on social media about NCP chief Sharad Pawar, an official said. Later, the Pune cyber police, who have also registered a case against Chitale, said they will seek the actor's custody after the expiry of her remand with the Thane police. In more trouble for Chitale, two cases were registered at separate police stations in Mumbai for allegedly sharing the objectionable post, an official said on Sunday. Besides, an organisation in Pune demanded that Chitale be charged with treason over the alleged reference to Sant Tukaram in the post shared by her. Chitale (29), a film and TV actress, was arrested by the Thane police on Saturday over a post she allegedly shared on her Facebook page.
