Adele Reveals Why She ‘Went Into Hiding’ After Last Minute Las Vegas Residency Cancellation: ‘I Was Embarrassed’
When Adele took the stage at the 2022 BRIT Awards to perform “I Drink Wine,” a power ballad from her fourth studio album, 30 , she half expected the audience to erupt into booing when she finished – and was surprised when she was instead met with applause. “It felt strange receiving so much love when I’d let people down,” the singer told ELLE in a recent interview that finds her opening up, at length, for the first time about the sudden cancellation of her Las Vegas residency earlier this year. In January, the night before her 24-date residency billed Weekends With Adele was scheduled to begin at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Adele shared a tearful video on social media explaining that the slate of shows would be indefinitely postponed . While she cited Covid-19 and delivery delays as explanations, the fact of the matter was that the show simply wasn’t ready. “There was just no soul in it,” Adele told ELLE. “The stage setup wasn’t right. It was very disconnected … [Read more...] about Adele Reveals Why She ‘Went Into Hiding’ After Last Minute Las Vegas Residency Cancellation: ‘I Was Embarrassed’

The CW is about to enter a new ownership era, as local TV giant Nexstar Media Group has confirmed a pending deal to acquire a 75% stake in the 16-year-old broadcast operation. Warner Bros Discovery and Paramount Global will each retain a 12.5% ownership interest in the CW and continue to produce scripted content for the network. Nexstar had not previously addressed months-long press speculation about the move, but finally confirmed it Monday morning in an SEC filing and press release. Mark Pedowitz will continue as chairman and CEO of the CW. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter. Financial terms have not been disclosed, but Nexstar said it is contributing “no upfront considerations,” meaning instead it is agreeing to take on the broadcast network’s debt. The CW Will Become A Profitable Network By 2025, But Also One With Broader, Cheaper Programming, New Owners At Nexstar Signal
As it transitions to new ownership, the CW will likely not look dramatically different in the near term, but Nexstar Media Group intends to turn it into a more broad-audience and cost-conscious broadcast network. The company earlier today confirmed it is set to take a 75% ownership stake in the network, with previous 50-50 owners Paramount Global and Warner Bros Discovery each retaining 12.5%. The transaction will formally close in the next few weeks. Executives articulated some of their initial plans during a 15-minute conference call with Wall Street analysts, though the presentation included only prepared remarks and no Q&A period. After Nexstar CEO Perry Sook kicked off the call to reaffirm the rationale for the deal, which will see the company absorb the CW ’s debt but not pay any cash or stock up front, other executives delivered more tangible news. CFO Lee Ann Gliha said the goal is to make the CW profitable by 2025. “It’s no secret that the … [Read more...] about The CW Will Become A Profitable Network By 2025, But Also One With Broader, Cheaper Programming, New Owners At Nexstar Signal
