Bobbi Ercoline Dies: Blanket-Draped Woodstock Concertgoer Was Pictured On Iconic Album Cover

March 20, 2023 by deadline.com

Bobbi Kelly Ercoline, who, along with her boyfriend (and later husband) Nick became an iconic, if unwitting, symbol of the Woodstock generation when their bedraggled, blanketed and poignant image was featured on the music festival’s 1970 soundtrack album, died Saturday following a lengthy illness. Her death was announced by husband of 54 years, Nick Ercoline. Neither a specific cause of death or age were disclosed, but Ercoline wrote that his wife was surrounded by family when she passed. “She lived her life well, and left this world in a much better place,” Nick Ercoline wrote. “If you knew her, you loved her. She lived by her saying, ‘Be kind.'” He added, “She didn’t deserve this past years nightmare, but she isn’t suffering from the physical pain anymore and that brings some comfort to us.” Nick Ercoline and Bobbi Kelly were both 20 years old and had been dating less than two months when they decided on a whim to drive the 40 miles from their New York State … [Read more...] about Bobbi Ercoline Dies: Blanket-Draped Woodstock Concertgoer Was Pictured On Iconic Album Cover

Lynne Ramsay Talks Love Of Shorts, The Art Of Adaptation & Why She Has No Plans To Make A Series – Qumra Masterclass

March 17, 2023 by deadline.com

UK director Lynne Ramsay enjoyed international recognition early on in her career after short films Small Deaths and Gasman were invited to the Cannes and won the Jury Prize in its short film competition in 1996 and 1998 respectively. “That was the first film festival I went to. It was so overwhelming,” Ramsay told a masterclass for the Doha Film Institute this week . “When Gasman won a prize and [Francis Ford] Coppola gave me the prize, that opened the way for me to make other films.” The film’s reception in L.A., when Ramsay showed them there as part of a British Film Institute talent showcase in the late 1990s, was less enthusiastic. Revolving around a young girl who slowly discovers a puzzling side to her father’s life during an outing to a Christmas party, Gasman shows the protagonist and other characters from the waist down only in the opening scene and other parts of the film. “The Hollywood producers who saw it said, ‘Did the camera slip because you … [Read more...] about Lynne Ramsay Talks Love Of Shorts, The Art Of Adaptation & Why She Has No Plans To Make A Series – Qumra Masterclass

New Documentary Shows How American Evangelicals Are ‘Praying For Armageddon’ And Pulling The Levers Of Power To Achieve It – CPH:DOX

March 20, 2023 by deadline.com

Imagine not only believing the world is coming to an end, but wanting it to happen. Eagerly. Then, take it a step further and imagine people with such a mentality engineering American politics and foreign policy to bring about the very thing they seek — the apocalypse. It may sound outlandish, but there are many well organized fundamentalist Christian leaders and their followers working hard to make this doomsday scenario a reality, an alarming movement explored in the documentary Praying for Armageddon . The film directed by Norwegian filmmaker Tonje Hessen Schei and co-directed by Michael Rowley makes its world premiere Monday night at the prestigious CPH:DOX festival in Copenhagen. “What they are really pushing for is the destruction of our civilization. It’s quite outrageous and mind blowing, really,” Schei tells Deadline as we sit at a café in Copenhagen. “And I don’t think a lot of Americans realize that the sort of hidden end time Armageddon lobby… that … [Read more...] about New Documentary Shows How American Evangelicals Are ‘Praying For Armageddon’ And Pulling The Levers Of Power To Achieve It – CPH:DOX

March 20, 2023 by deadline.com

Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Rachel Zegler took to social media over the weekend to lament what she called “senselessly mean” reactions to the film. The DC sequel had a lackluster opening at the global box office, landing with $65.5 million worldwide. It currently carries a 52% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Posting on Twitter, Zegler wrote, “Some people out there and just being… senselessly mean. And it’s unnecessary. And I know, I know, ‘If you can’t handle the heat…’ and all that nonsense, and you’re right. But our film is actually very good, it’s just cool to hate on fun nowadays. That’s okay. We’re good.” While the movie did not win favor with critics, the Rotten Tomatoes audience score is currently 88%. Zegler, who broke out in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story , plays Greek goddess Anthea in the David F. Sandberg-directed Shazam 2 , which stars Zachary Levi as the titular superhero. She encouraged audiences to “give it a chance”: The New … [Read more...] about ‘Shazam! Fury Of The Gods’: Rachel Zegler Laments “Senselessly Mean” Criticism Of Movie

Fired Fox News Producer Details Claims That Network Attorneys Coerced Her In Dominion Deposition Testimony

March 27, 2023 by deadline.com

Abby Grossberg , the Fox News producer who was fired last week after filing suit against the network, added new details to her allegations that she was coerced by Fox News’ legal team into giving misleading deposition testimony as the network defended itself in Dominion Voting Systems ’ $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit. In an amended complaint, Grossberg’s attorneys also raised the prospect that she could testify in the upcoming trial on behalf of Dominion while rejecting the possibility that she would appear on behalf of Fox News. The network dismissed Grossberg on Friday, alleging that she had failed to protect privileged company information in a lawsuit she filed against the network earlier in the week. The network also contended that her lawsuit was “riddled with false allegations.” In Grossberg’s revised complaint (read it here ), filed in New York federal court and Delaware Superior Court on Monday, Grossberg’s attorneys alleged that the network, in firing … [Read more...] about Fired Fox News Producer Details Claims That Network Attorneys Coerced Her In Dominion Deposition Testimony
