‘Yellowjackets’ Christina Ricci On Why She Roots For The Underdog — Even If It Bites Her
At 15, Christina Ricci appeared in a PG-13 comedy called Now and Then , in which four middle-aged best friends meet up to reflect on their teenage selves. Nearly 30 years later, Showtime ’s Yellowjackets is that film’s hard-R evil twin, in which the fortysomething members of a New Jersey school’s female football team are haunted by memories of a traumatic plane crash that left them stranded when they were kids. It’s hard to pick a single performance from a terrific ensemble, but Ricci’s portrayal of the twisted Misty Quigley, played in flashback by Sammi Hanratty , is a standout in a series that shocks and surprises. DEADLINE: Why did you want to want to do Yellowjackets ? CHRISTINA RICCI : I loved the idea of it — the premise in general. But then I read the pilot script and the only scene I had in the whole episode was such an incredibly well written, succinct, informative, evocative scene. It was about a character type I’ve always been fascinated by — … [Read more...] about ‘Yellowjackets’ Christina Ricci On Why She Roots For The Underdog — Even If It Bites Her

The company will launch Good Neighbors , a three-part series on its Prime Video service around the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which begins in November. ‘Arthur & Lancelot’ In Warner Bros Budget Crisis: Projected $130M Cost Too High
STUNNER! Legendary Pictures Postpones January Start Of ‘Paradise Lost’ EXCLUSIVE : Legendary Pictures’ Paradise Lost isn’t the only film being readied on the Warner Bros lot to face a budget crisis. Arthur & Lancelot , the David Dobkin script that Warner Bros paid $2 million to acquire last summer, won’t get made unless the budget drops dramatically. I’m told that even though Warner Bros dated the film for a March 15, 2013 release and cast Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington to play Arthur and The Killing ‘s Joel Kinnaman to play Lancelot, the back and forth on budget has gotten to the point that the studio has invited Dobkin to set the picture up elsewhere if he can. I’ve heard that what started as a $90 million (other sources said Warners would make it for $110 million) contemporary style re-imagining of the Sword And The Stone tale has a budget the studio fears could reach $130 million. The studio feels that is just too much for a movie with two unproven … [Read more...] about ‘Arthur & Lancelot’ In Warner Bros Budget Crisis: Projected $130M Cost Too High
No. 18 ‘San Andreas’ – 2015 Most Valuable Movie Blockbuster Tournament
When it comes to evaluating the financial performance of top movies, it isn’t about what a film grosses at the box office. The true tale is told when production budgets, P&A, talent participations and other costs collide with box office grosses, and ancillary revenues from VOD to DVD and TV. To get close to that mysterious end of the equation, Deadline is repeating our Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament, using data culled by seasoned and trusted sources. SAN ANDREAS Warner Bros THE FILM Natural disaster movies were once a Hollywood staple, and New Line wanted to bring back the spirit of those Irwin Allen let’s-blow-s*hit-up epics that stopped being made when the Poseidon Adventure remake did so badly that it ended the run of an up-and-coming co-financier. What that film didn’t have was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He has been called “franchise Viagra” after coming aboard G.I. Joe and most significantly Fast & Furious , and improving the fortunes of those … [Read more...] about No. 18 ‘San Andreas’ – 2015 Most Valuable Movie Blockbuster Tournament
