EXCLUSIVE: After lengthy negotiations, Fox Entertainment and Hulu have closed a new multi-year deal for in-season streaming rights to the broadcast network’s primetime series. The agreement also includes an extensive multi-platform marketing partnership. Under the pact, all Fox primetime entertainment programming – ranging from Family Guy and The Simpsons to The Cleaning Lady and new breakout drama The Accused to The Masked Singer and Next Level Chef — will continue to stream on the Disney-controlled Hulu the next day following their linear telecast. Additionally, the deal adds a new element — joint Fox and Hulu branding across all Fox marketing efforts for its programming on the network’s platforms and beyond as well as on Hulu. Cindy Williams , who starred in the smash Happy Days spinoff Laverne & Shirley after appearing in George Lucas’ American Graffiti and Francis Ford Coppola’s The Conversation, has died. She was 75. Her family told the Associated Press today that the actress died Wednesday after a brief illness. “The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed,” reads the statement from her children, Emily and Zak Hudson, relayed through a spokesperson. “Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege. In another organizing win for the WGA East , The Huffington Post has agreed to recognize the union as the collective bargaining representative of its editorial staff. Over the last year the guild has also organized the digital writing staffs at Vice Media, Gawker Media, Salon and The Guardian US. “I am delighted to let you know that we have reached an agreement with the Writers Guild of America, East to proceed to voluntary recognition by counting signed union cards,” said Arianna Huffington in an email to her staff. “Assuming a majority, we will recognize the union. EXCLUSIVE : Michael Jackson will be played by the late icon’s 26-year old nephew Jaafar Jackson in the Antoine Fuqua -directed film biopic for Lionsgate . Fuqua just posted a confirmation on Instagram. The singer and songwriter is the son of Jermaine Jackson , who is the brother of Michael and member of The Jackson 5. Jaafar has been singing and dancing since age 12, and has showcased himself singing tunes from Sam Cooke to Marvin Gaye, along with originals. Whatever the reason, Reboot — Steve Levitan ’s show-within-a-show comedy that starred Keegan-Michael Key , Johnny Knoxville and Judy Greer — will not see a second season at the streamer. The single-camera comedy followed execs at Hulu (yes, Hulu) who decide to reboot a family comedy from the 2000s. Actors from the original return to reprise their roles for the reboot, and “deal with their unresolved issues in today’s fast-changing world,” according to the original logline. Reboot was Levitan’s first creation since his Emmy-winning comedy Modern Family with Christopher Lloyd wrapped in 2020. And he hopes to shop it elsewhere; Deadline hears that another streamer has asked to read scripts from season two of the Twentieth TV comedy. Bobby Hull , the NHL Hall of Famer who was the first to score more than 50 goals in a single season and is considered among the league’s all-time best left-wingers, died Monday, the NHL Alumni Association said. He was 84. WGA East members employed as writers and editors at the HuffPost news site are threatening to go on strike if a fair contract can’t be reached by Tuesday night at midnight ET. With only two days left of bargaining, their strike pledge comes after months of negotiations for a new contract. Marilyn Manson is facing a lawsuit filed by a woman who claims that the singer sexually assaulted her in 1995, when she was 16, and later when she was an adult. The lawsuit, filed in New York Supreme Court on Monday (read it here ), comes a week after a settlement was reached in a lawsuit brought by Game of Thrones actress Esmé Bianco, who had filed suit claiming that Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, sexually assaulted her. The New York lawsuit was filed by a Jane Doe, which her attorneys wrote that they used to protect the woman’s privacy as a victim of sexual assault .
