EXCLUSIVE : Bethlehem Million ( Sick ) is set as a lead opposite Kennedy McMann and Felicity Huffman in The Good Lawyer , the proposed legal spinoff from ABC’s popular medical drama The Good Doctor , produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature. Million will appear along with McMann and Huffman in the March 6 “The Good Lawyer” embedded pilot episode of The Good Doctor , written by the series’ co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman and directed by Ruben Fleischer. In the episode, Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) seeks legal representation to help him win a case and puts his faith in a promising, young lawyer, Joni DeGroot (McMann) who has obsessive compulsive disorder. ‘Frasier’: Anders Keith Cast As Niles & Daphne’s Son; Jess Salgueiro Also Joins Paramount+ Sequel Series
The Frasier sequel series continues to build out the new generation of Cranes. Newcomer Anders Keith has been cast as Niles and Daphne’s son David, joining Jack Cutmore-Scott, who was previously tapped to play Frasier and Lilith’s son’s Freddy. Jess Salgueiro (Y: The Last Man) also has been cast as a lead opposite Kelsey Grammer and Cutmore-Scott in the long-in-the-works series for Paramount+. Jimmy Kimmel will continue as ABC ’s late-night host through at least fall 2019 with a three-year contact extension. ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey just made the announcement at the network’s upfront presentation before introducing Kimmel for his signature blistering routine. Jimmy Kimmel Live! is currently in its 14th season, making Kimmel the longest-running host on broadcast. During its run, Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Variety Series. WGA East Calls for Union Exemption To Obamacare’s ‘Cadillac Tax’
The WGA East today called for all union health plans to be exempted from the Affordable Care Act’s so-called “Cadillac Tax,” a 40% nondeductible excise tax that is scheduled to go into effect in 2018 on employers who provide high-end health benefits to their workers. ‘American Gigolo’ Series In Works At Paramount TV With Jerry Bruckheimer
Paramount Television is pulling another marquee title from Paramount’s movie library for a series adaptation with top original auspices attached. The company is developing a television adaptation of the film noir classic, American Gigolo, with Jerry Bruckheimer , who was a producer of the 1980 movie with Richard Gere and Lauren Hutton, executive producing. The film’s director and writer, Paul Schrader, will serve as an executive consultant. “With its signature noir aesthetic, American Gigolo has remained a deeply entertaining, psychological thriller and I’m thrilled to partner with (Paramount’s) Brad (Grey) and Amy (Powell) on remaking it into a television series,” said Bruckheimer.
