In a huge coup for Amazon Prime Video , the streamer has scored rights to the Champions League in the UK for the first time, shared with BT. From the 2024/25 season, Amazon will show the big games on a Tuesday night through to the semi finals, amounting to around 20 games in total. BT, which has held the rights since 2015 when it took over from ITV and Sky, will continue showing both the Champions League and the smaller European football competitions, the Europa League and Europa Conference League. Amazon has been steadily increasing its footprint in the international sports rights market, showing U.S. Open Tennis and several weekends of Premier League football over the past few years. A songwriter is suing the YouTube comedy duo Handsome Dancer , claiming they haven’t properly credited, or paid him, for his contributions to their viral song, “Coincidance.” The lawsuit was filed by Giacomo Lamparelli, who’s seeking damages for unpaid royalties related to the song, according to the court documents obtained by Rolling Stone . Lamparelli claims he provided significant contributions to the original demo made by Handsome Dancer’s James Manzello and Matt Pavich, but in the wake of the song’s success, the pair “have ceased providing Mr. Lamparelli credit for his work, refused to recognize him as a co-author, refused to provide an accounting and refused to pay any compensation for Mr. Lamparelli’s production services or his work” on the track. Zawe Ashton, Hayley Squires And Daniel Mays Land Leads In BBC Adaptation Of ‘ Maryland ’ Lucy Kirkwood’s play Maryland is being adapted for the BBC and Zawe Ashton ( Fresh Meat ), Hayley Squires ( I, Daniel Blake ) and Daniel Mays ( Des , Line of Duty ) have landed the lead roles. The 30-minute adaptation of the Royal Court play will be called Mary and air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer on July 20.
