Set Strict Time Boundaries The key to staying sane and not burning out is to set strict boundaries on time. If the clock hits 7 p.m. on a weekday, even if I’m in the middle of something, I stop and pick it back up the next day. What I’ve found is that I get more done in less time by forcing myself to stick to this schedule, which has totally transformed the way I work. – James Simpson, GoldFire Studios … [Read more...] about 12 Busy Leaders Share How to Balance a Hectic Work Schedule With Living Life Well

America’s Longest War Takes a Deadly New Turn
On a brisk morning, we drive through Kunduz City, a northern provincial capital of more than 300,000 people. In the absence of U.S. and NATO ground forces, Kunduz has degenerated under the heel of corrupt, abusive local militias and ethnic rivalries. In 2015, the Taliban seized the city for 15 days, the first takeover of any Afghan city since the U.S. invasion, and a shocking indictment of the Afghan army’s capacity to defend vital urban centers. Highway to Hell: A Trip Down Afghanistan’s Deadliest Road
The bloodshed is not likely to end anytime soon. Intra-Afghan talks are faltering, and the Taliban are gaining on the battlefield. Some Afghans cling to the hope that the Biden administration will follow a more conditions-based approach to U.S. withdrawal. Biden has promised to end America’s “forever wars” and was against Obama’s surge, but U.N. and Afghan officials say the Taliban actively maintain their alliance with Al Qaeda, in violation of the peace deal. Without an enduring U.S. presence, many predict that talks will collapse and that the country could once again plunge into chaos, as it did when the Soviet army departed. “If we see a total disengagement of the international community, the naturally ensuing result will be a state of civil war,” says Davood Moradian, the director of the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies. The Taliban, he says, would be just one of many warring factions. “We have already seen this reality in Libya, … [Read more...] about Highway to Hell: A Trip Down Afghanistan’s Deadliest Road
