We gotta wait a little while longer for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune : Part Two as Warner Bros has moved the Legendary film from Oct. 20, 2023 to Nov. 17, 2023. The new release date for Dune: Part Two has been a traditional launch pad for Warner Bros. having opened many Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies in that pre-Thanksgiving space as well as Justice League. However, Warner Bros. just began a staring contest with Lionsgate on the pre-holiday date as the former has their prequel The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes on that same exact date. Warners has the upper hand with access to the Imax screens on that date. Universal also has DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls 3 and Paramount has their John Krasinski-directed Ryan Reynolds movie. Production is starting this fall in Budapest for the next Dune. The first movie was the highest grossing title under Warner Bros. 2021 pandemic theatrical day-and-date HBO Max model grossing $400M and … [Read more...] about ‘Dune: Part Two’ Butts Up Against ‘Hunger Games’ Prequel On Pre-Thanksgiving 2023; ‘Godzilla-Kong’ Sequel Dated For 2024

For one thing, reiterating what GoT star Emilia Clarke told the BBC on Wednesday, Martin says that it was Harington himself who initiated the idea for the new show. The scribe once called the “American Tolkien” by Time magazine also revealed that Snow is partially staffed up. “Yes, it was Kit Harrington (sic) who brought the idea to us,” the self-described “way too busy,” Martin wrote. “I cannot tell you the names of the writers/showrunners, since that has … [Read more...] about ‘Game Of Thrones’ Creator George R.R. Oscars: Can Anyone Break Disney & Pixar’s Animated Feature Streak In 2019?
In the competitive world of feature animation, it takes more than an entertaining yarn and a bit of slapstick comedy to cut through the noise. To make an impact at the box office in 2018—and at the Oscars, heading now into its 91st go-round—filmmakers are called upon to pursue a new standard of excellence, going back to the drawing board with each new effort, and finding exciting ways to break the mold. Leading the charge as regular contenders for Best Animated Feature since the category was created in 2001, Walt Disney Studios , and its Bay area subsidiary Pixar , once again enter the field of 25 films, with two projects that embody the category’s ideals. First, there’s Incredibles 2 , Brad Bird’s return to the groundbreaking superhero world he established in 2004. Sending the Parr family off on new adventures (with Elastigirl out chasing runaway trains, and Mr. Incredible taking a backseat), the film easily achieved hard-to-get hit sequel status, setting a record … [Read more...] about Oscars: Can Anyone Break Disney & Pixar’s Animated Feature Streak In 2019?
Film Review: Illumination’s ‘Minions: The Rise Of Gru’
The Minions have risen to astonishing heights since Sergio Pablos birthed what would become the franchise some 12 years ago — if you’ve lost count, their progeny includes three feature sequels (one due two years hence), two prequels, more than a dozen shorts, a TV special, video games and the inevitable theme park attraction. For parents who might have lost track (kids don’t tend to forget such things), Despicable Me gave legitimate birth to its first offspring, Minions , five years ago, and while it’s hard to argue that it was worth the wait (its debut was postponed by two years due to Covid), this set-in-hippie-era San Francisco sequel serves up reasonable amusement for roughly the first hour, only to rather overstay its welcome thereafter. All the same, it will keep kids tolerably amused upon its opening via Universal on Friday. Among many other factors it has in its favor, this is yet another Illumination creation that adults will not just put up with but can … [Read more...] about Film Review: Illumination’s ‘Minions: The Rise Of Gru’
Confronting Fairy Tale Tropes, ‘Ralph Breaks The Internet’ Directors Examine A Friendship In Flux Within A Whole New World
After working for years on the socially conscious Zootopia and seeing it win the Oscars’ Best Animated Feature prize in 2016, Phil Johnston and Rich Moore had no time to rest on their laurels, returning to work on Ralph Breaks the Internet . A sequel to 2012 Disney hit Wreck-It Ralph —a beloved work centering on video game characters Ralph and Vanellope, and the friendship they share—this film would send its two heroes on a mission into the Internet, where they would confront new personal challenges and an astonishing new world. Making his directorial debut alongside veteran Moore, from a script he co-wrote, Johnston explains that with the second Ralph installment—as is often the case—themes emerged first. “The first idea of sending them to the Internet was more about looking for a place where Ralph and Vanellope’s friendship could be tested. One of the themes we’re working with is the idea of change, that friendships change, and that good friendships can survive and … [Read more...] about Confronting Fairy Tale Tropes, ‘Ralph Breaks The Internet’ Directors Examine A Friendship In Flux Within A Whole New World
