‘Swagger’ Creator Explains Season 2’s Time Jump To See Young Cast “Navigate Their Way Through Adulthood”
The second season of Swagger will debut on Apple TV + in June. The streamer announced the news Wednesday, along with a few first look images of the cast (one is above, and the others are at the bottom of this post). The images don’t give much away, showing a few moments with star Isaiah Hill’s character Jace Carson. One appears to be on the court after a game with O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s Ike, a former star player-turned-youth basketball coach. Another image appears to be a more tender interaction between Jace and Quvenzhané Wallis’ Crystal. Season 2 comes just under two years after the premiere of the first installment, which prompted a bit of a time jump to accommodate the aging of the younger cast, as well usher in a more compelling storyline, creator, showrunner and director Reggie Rock Bythewood said during Apple TV+’s Television Critics Association panel. “One of the realities when you have a certain time between Season 1 and Season 2, my young actors, they keep … [Read more...] about ‘Swagger’ Creator Explains Season 2’s Time Jump To See Young Cast “Navigate Their Way Through Adulthood”

Critics Choice Awards Broadcast Draws Record Low Ratings On The CW
The Critics Choice Awards aired Sunday night without much fanfare. The CW ’s broadcast of the 28th annual ceremony drew just 900,000 viewers, according to early Nielsen numbers. That’s a slight dip from last year when the ceremony, which was simulcast across The CW and TNT, took home an audience of 1.1M. TNT didn’t simulcast the ceremony this year, so technically The CW’s audience is higher than it was a year ago even though overall viewership declined. The dip in audience falls in line with every other awards show telecast losing viewers over the past few years. On Tuesday, NBC’s broadcast of the Golden Globes brought in the lowest ratings ever for the ceremony. Over the course of the three-hour Critics Choice broadcast, A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once won Best Picture, Brendan Fraser won Best Actor for A24’s The Whale , and Cate Blanchett took Best Actress for Focus Features’ Tár . AMC Networks Confirms In-Person Upfront Event For Advertisers In April
AMC Networks is choosing to host an in-person event during the spring upfront season, confirming plans for a presentation for about 200 to 250 guests. The event, slated for Tuesday, April 18, at New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center, will resemble last year’s pitch to advertisers at Peak, a restaurant near the top of a Hudson Yards skyscraper. AMC Networks has entered some choppy waters of late, with the abrupt departure last November of CEO Christina Spade after just three months in the job. James Dolan, whose family controls most of the company’s shares, was named interim executive chairman after the company signaled its intent to lay off 20% of its workforce, citing ongoing cord-cutting and other economic pressures. The annual TV upfront ritual, a blitz of in-person presentations for ad buyers with billions of ad dollars in the balance, is being evaluated across the media business. The upfronts have started to look different in recent years due to larger shifts in the media … [Read more...] about AMC Networks Confirms In-Person Upfront Event For Advertisers In April
Charlie Sheen — No Offense Taken by Parting Shot
Charlie Sheen actually thought the creator of " Two and a Half Men " was extending an olive branch when he took a shot at Charlie's wild lifestyle ... sources connected with C.S. tell TMZ. Chuck Lorre put a slate up at the end of last night's episode, in which he said, "I don't drink. I don't smoke. I don't do drugs. I don't have crazy, reckless sex with strangers. If Charlie Sheen outlives me, I'm gonna be really pissed." On one level it seemed like an act of war. But our sources say Charlie said, "I actually saw it as a nice gesture." Charlie thinks it shows how he has a knack for taking a lickin' but keeps on tickin'. Nonetheless, Charlie and Chuck are at loggerheads over Chuck canceling 4 of the remaining 8 episodes this season. … [Read more...] about Charlie Sheen — No Offense Taken by Parting Shot
